-   My mate who has a 'hybrid' Compaq Evo D510 epc (all the disadvantages of a laptop - deftly combined with the downsides of a desktop...genius, no?) has had a BT USB ADSL modem connecting him with broadband for some time, and his girlfriend wanted to stay there and be able to use her Mac laptop wirelessly, sharing the same connection, so I went out and got a wireless ADSL router/modem in order to make this possible. However I couldn't find any with USB interface at the price I paid so ended up with a nice little linksys box which plugs into the ethernet port instead. When I tried to set it up though I found that, despite the clear physical existance of an ethernet controller, socket etc. as one would expect, the motherboard drivers I could find - and I scoured the net for all I could find; both Manufacturer's (Intel) ref drivers and OEM's driver packages, as well as trying assorted generics etc. until, after many hours and with growing frustration I realised that it just wasn't gonna happen. Upon checking out tech forums I discovered (with a degree of relief, for no engineer likes to think the problem is that he's ****....) I learned I was not alone in coming across this issue. I was led to a link to an alledgedly working fix but to my near - despair it seemed to be down, kaput. And there it ended for a few months. I recently bought (at £20 it's not cheap either) a USB 2.0 to RJ45 LAN Adaptor in the hope of finding a work - around that way, and right now I'm checking out devs. Anyone out there a:) Found a real fix or b:) Able to help re: the possible success or otherwise of my latest attempt to find a work - around (I.e. the USB/LAN adaptor)? I'd be very grateful for any thoughts, ideas, or info. -   Guest

-   For some strange reason the Compaq D51s models' network drivers cannot be installed because windows cannot detect it even after downloading all of the drivers from compaqs' website. I just cannot find any drivers online to install it. Intel Drivers (both gigabit and pro 1000), 3Com 3C90x, Broadcom Netextreme Gigabit etc have all been downloaded and tried with the windows drivers update through the hardware detection wizard and absolutely none of them are producing any positive results. Very Very upsetting. If anyone has the same model system and is willing to help, can you please send the drivers to my email, any help is very much appreciated.-   Alianiloc

-   downloaded 38466.exe but indicaates correct hardware not installed.-   hjgarve
We had the same problem and tried all of the drivers & even the expired link here, but then went back and discovered the PRO 100 drivers contained in the HP Intel PRO/1000 GT drivers download file sp33671.exe (64 MB), 9.4.21.0 A (4 Sep 2006). Choose to extract to a non-temporary folder, it will produce C:\swsetup\SP33671\PRO100\Win32\ by default and that is where we found the driver. Hope it helps!
