Depending of course on your full model number, you may need to replace the membrane keypad or the control panel frame assembly, which comes with a new keypad.

There's a YouTube video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

can you still microwave food?

If you cant the device has broken down and I would recommend takeing it to warranty repairs.

If its a cheap model, I supose you might be better off with buying a new one. Since if you dont have warranty repair it might cost more than a new model.

If you need more assistance let me know.

Thanks, remember to review and good luck to you

The bulb that is under the microwave that shines on the stove top is missing so I need to know what type of bulb to buy to replcae it.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven
here.

Cooktop light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

So be sure to unplug the oven before removing or installing bulbs.

We see (and repair) this a lot. If yours needs repair, at our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too, as well as other functions.

Where can i buy a control panel for a ge profile microwave model hvm1540

If you have pads failing on the membrane keypad or an "F3" error, you can buy the control panel assembly with a new keypad already attached here.

(You will need to enter your full model number from the tag in or on the unit, such as HVM1540WW001, etc.)

If you have other trouble, and it is the control board ("smart board") that is at fault, you can buy a new one here or you can get it repaired here for only $39.95 in most cases.

Microwave works fine, but the LED display is not working

Then chances are it can be repaired without having to buy a new board. I would suspect a connection or power component on the control board.

We regularly repair these for customers nationwide with our guaranteed $39.95 service.

Repair help

Thefirst thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for aminute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

Let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

Your control board may need to be repaired. While these run about $232, we can often repair them for only $39.95 nationwide.

I wiggled the ribbon cable between the control board and the intermediate circut board. The LCD came back for an instant. I am sure it is this ribbon cable. It looks like it is held on with adhesive. How can it be impossible to repair if people are offering to do it less than 40.00 dollars to fix it? Someone must be selling a replacement ribbon cable that will work.
