SOURCE: Sound very muffled in right ear bud

Yes, more than likely it is the wax build-up inside the screen of the earbuds. Take a tack and lightly pry the screen out. You will definitely see a noticeable amound of "gunk on the inside. Clean and you will hear a clearer and crisper sound. If you put the screens on flush and press them in they will stay.

SOURCE: left bud not working properly

Same thing happened to me today, so i took out the mesh to see what was going on.  Like solution 1, the mesh was the problem and i removed it with tweezers but i couldnt help bending the mesh a little.  Its not that its a problem of the mesh touching the cone but that the adhesive that attached the mesh was covering the whole underside of the mesh along with some wax.  I removed the silicone adhesive with the tweezers and washed out the wax with some peroxide.  The trickiest part is getting the mesh back in.  I put one side of the mesh in with the small lip facing down, slightly bent it so it made a bump on the top of the mesh and maintained its convex shape and then squeezed in the other side with trying to keep the lip in while doing so.  Took me a few tries but after you get it in push the edges in so they don,t come out again and file down the edges if there are any sharp pieces of the mesh protruding.  And your done.  Solved my problem, hope it works for you.

SOURCE: Losing sound in my Shure ear buds, they are one year old.

the wire breaks after a while in ear buds ,and head phones due to the constant flexing, and moving.they probably need to be remade.by cutting out the bad part of the wire(usually close to the fitting)You can usually wiggle the wire and find where the breaks are that way.it can be a real pain re soldering ear buds.also check the plug end by wiggling the wire there.

SOURCE: Sennheisser cx300 ear buds ..one channel has lost volume.

I have been having the same problem for the past week, I have just fixed it, reading your post gave me the idea to clean them and it actually worked

What i did was to "heat them up" with a hair dryer so that any wax from my ear that had gotten inside would "melt", then I cleaned them with alcohol and a q-tip and I made sure I let a bit of alcohol to get inside the ear bud, then I dryed it with the hair dryer again very carefully and tested to see the results and WHALA works just fine

SOURCE: Only One Ear Bud Works

It is likely that your right stereo channel has either been severed somehow or there is a severe short in one of the cables. What you can try to do to test this theory is first turn on your music. Then wiggle the cable at the very base of the right earbud. If nothing happens wiggle the cord right where it connects to the stereo jack. If still nothing happens run your fingers along the right earbud audio cable bending and twisting it. If at any point you hear music again then you likely have a short. If it is near the earbud then it is going to be difficult to fix since these earbudfs have a large gauard. If the short is at the stereo jack then the fix is simple. A standard 1/8" stereo jack can be purchased from any electronics or audio store. You can then fairly easily seperate teh old stereo jack and solder this new one in place. Search the internet for tutorials on how to do this if need be. Even if you do not get any kind of sound when wiggling it at the base of the jack this is the most likely culprit since this is where most of the stress on the headphones occur. Be wary though, if you do attempt a stereo jack repair you will void whatever kind of warranty your earbuds may have so check before you try. But, in teh end you may end up saving a 60-100 dollar set of earbuds for 5-8 dollars. Hope this helped.

When you pull the wire up does it increase the right ear bud volume/ sound? If it does, then it means the right side ear bud has a short within the head phones circuit which is aka the wire that leads to the musical device in which the ear buds branch off from.

If the right side ear bud does not produce an increased volume for sound by picking the wire up or pulling it in towards you or to the left side of your body or musical device then it means that the right speaker is blown.

I know that all head phones come spiced together aka they are stuck together and have to be pulled apart in order to get both head phones seperated from each other so that they can be worn in the ears. If you pulled the wire apart to much or too quickly then that is what ruined the right head phone.

I suggest that regardless if the ear phones begin to work by pulling the wire up,side ways, or into towards your body that you return them back to the store since after awhile the problem will eventually continue to happen causing the right ear bud to completely blow. Once you return the ear phones be cautious with the new set when you seperate the ear buds from each other since they are very touchy and have to be handled with delicateness when seperation is taking place.

Please let me know how it works out for you. I have had many ear buds and I tell ya something; they are very easy to blow one side when seperating. I had to learn after a few pairs that I was ruining the speakers by the way I was seperating my wires. I kept thinking for the first 3 pairs that the store was selling blown ear buds until I began having same problems with another few stores so I said to myself "well the solution is to figure out what I am doing wrong in order to blow one side of my ear buds every time". After few seconds it was not that obvious that all I had to do for assembly was to pull the wires apart in order to get both ear buds to go into my ears.

Stereo system connected to computer audio is not working and it was working before

Recheck your settings. Go the lower right and see if the speaker settings are correct. Vol. and speaker connections! You may have turned off the speaker off by error. If the settings are OK, try a headset with right/left ear buds and if you get sound, then the speakers are a problem.

Acer 5534 ear phones not working

Hello B Rose, Hi, here are some list that you may try.
  1. If you think its the PC, try looking at the volume setup, lower right of the screen,
  2. Check the sound properties by right clicking the speaker icon( if there is one on the lower right, if not you may need the sound driver installed again)
  3. try using the restore point if you are using windows 7 and restore the system to a day where the sound is working fine. to use restore point type restore point on the search bar. follow instructions after.
  4. still no sound, purchase a portable USB sound device is a cosmetic solution.5bf08798-d66d-4339-b684-2a90a1bbc128.jpg

Left earbud completely silent.

Hi,what makes the left hear completely silent it because the wire inside the left side ear bud might have cut and it's not contacting with the speaker inside the ear bud.

What you will do is this, open the left ear bud that is not working, check if the connection is not properly fix. Also after checking if the wires are intact, if the wires inside are intact with no trace of cut inside, that means that the speaker inside is damaged and will need to be replaced..

If you can't do it your self, I would advice you contact a skilled personnel for help.

Thanks for using fixya....
