SOURCE: Dear Mr/Mrs How do I replace
not a difficult job, as long as you have your restore discs. When you put a new drive in, you will need to re-install everything.
Have a look on the base of your laptop, there will be a few access panels. Remove these and beneath one will be your Hard Drive. Remove the hard drive (usually it should slide away from its mounting point) and check the model number to aid you finding a replacement. Replacing is simply removing your old drive from the metal case which holds it and fitting the new drive in its place, slide back in, refit your access panels and run your system restore discs.
If you do not have restore discs then you will be able to do an install from any windows installation disc but may have to hunt about for driver files on the internet. Do a search for acer support and you should be directed to an acer driver download site.
If you dont have access to restore disks or installation media, there is software about which allows you to clone your original hdd (as long as it is still operational) and transfer it to another drive but you normally have to buy this software. Something like Acronis will help you.
Hope this helps.
