CD player begins to spin then stops

Mine did the same thing. My player was primarily used in the garage and the cold weather may have caused my player to do the same thing. I just fixed my player. I removed the top cover and looked at the CD in the play position. In the upper right corner from the CD, you will see a spindle motor with a belt on it. Gently spin the motor back and forth carefully with your finger. I rotated it a half-spin in either direction, careful not to dislodge the belt. When I turned the player back on, the mechanism operated as it normally would and began playing the disc. I was able to eject and reinsert the magazine without any issues, solving the problem. Hopefully that will work for you.

Not sure bout that ,,usally when it spins a few times and thats it,,motor wore out,,,put a disc in try as it stops spinning or right wen its fixon to start spinning given it a help spin,,i had that fix or getem goin,,,,also try tapping it ,,and hitting the side od the machine,,good luck,,

This is and usual indication of a poor spindel motor that needs replacing it is the motor that spins the disc, it is the most common failue in DVD's and CD plyrs. You can't just replace the motor you will have to replace what called the mech assembly which will include the spindle motor/Laser/stepping motor etc...

sounds like it has a faulty laser and it wont read so the player stops the cd spin motor. try cleaning it and see if it works

Hello Alison hi, we need to check two parts to see which is the problem section why your player wont read.

1. Does your CD spins normally, check your player if the cd spins normally, if you can see the disk spinning, take note of the spin, is it to slow? An abnormal disk spin has problems with its spindle motor assembly.
2. Does your CD spins and then slow down to a stops, did not read the disk. This is caused by two things, FIRST: your CD player lens needs cleaning, you can buy a CD lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, SECOND: The lens has degraded or worn out due to use and time, this needs a replacement lens assembly.

This things are way beyond a normal user, I suggest you send it for service. Sorry, there are no user serviceable parts here.

Might be the laser but try lubbing the spindle motor 1st!

this player uses a philips mechanism, spindle motor failure is very common on these mechanisms, yours may be on its way out. take the lid off and insert a cd and if you can hear the laser trying to read the cd without it spinning, it's definately the spindle motor.

CD does not run

If it spins with a little help from yourself replace the spindle motor with improved motor, part number: RXQ0749A
This fault would only occur on c.d play back. The sound would gradually start to distort, until all that could be heard was complete distortion. This fault was intermittent and would occur whenever it felt like
