We have a Rianni 1004F propane water. We were wondering how low the temp will go in economy mode as we are leaving it on during the week while we are gone. The manual is unclear.

My spa is at 89 and its set for 104 and the pump will not cut on what is the problem

You may be in economy mode. Economy only heats the water during a programmed filter cycle. You want it to be in standard mode which turns on the hot tub once the water is 2 degrees below the desired temperature. There should be a mode or program button on your topside. One some systems you'll have to hit prog/mode button then the temp up button to change the mode. There is also a sleep mode. Never used it not sure what it's for.

Do not leave it on. The thermostat could [ figuratively freeze up] lock on a certain temperature, overheat and cause internal wires to catch on fire

A downeast hot tub water is only 78 degrees turn up to 100 doesn't never get warmer and shows a ECn code

Check your filter cycles and switch spa into Standard Mode as you have it in Economy. (In Economy mode it will only heat during the filter cycles).
If the Ecn or Ec Message is Alternating with the Water Temperature on the Display, the Spa is Operating in the Economy Heating Mode.

If the Ecn or Ec Message is ON Solid (Not Flashing) on the Display, the Spa is Operating in the Economy Heating Mode, but there is No current water temperature because the Spa is between Filter Cycles.

Ecn or Ec is Alternating with Temp:
The Spa is Operating in the "Economy" (Ecn or Ec) Heating Mode.

The Water Temperature is Sampled Only during Programmed Filter Cycles. The Heater will Only operate and Heat up to Set Temperature during the Filter Cycles. The Water Temperature will probably drop Below Set Temperature between Filter Cycles. Other Heating Modes are Standard, Standard in Economy, and Sleep Modes.

Ecn or Ec is ON Solid (Not Flashing):
The Current Water Temperature is "Unknown" (- - - or - -) while in Economy or Sleep Mode.

Between Filter Cycles, while in the Economy or Sleep Heating Modes, the Pump has not turned ON and the Last Water Temperature is not Current. To read the Current Water Temperature, either Change to Standard Heating Mode or turn On the Heating Related Pump, and wait at least 2 Minutes.

I have a Rinnai 1004F, no manual. Vent Contol Button is in open position, its winter, should vent be closed at all? Economy button, whats it for?

Not sure about Vent Control however the Economy button is like a night time set back. Over a 2 hour period it will decrease the temperature up to 6 degrees from set point. In morning, just take off economy and unit will come up to temp. Go to www.rinnai.us for on-line manual.

What part do i change when convertin a ranni propane gas to natural gas

I think the part numbers listed in the solution are LPG injectors. The orifices (injectors) needed to change over from Propane (LPG) to Gas (NAT.) would be 2 High Injectors 100F-2031-B-1.80 and one Low Injector 1004F-2036-B-1.95.

Rinnai 1004F Heating the Outdoors!

Do you have the Economy button on? If so, and you have a large space to heat or the outside temp is very cold the unit may not be able to keep up. If this is the case the stove runs forever, trying to reduce the temp by 2 degrees every 30 minutes. This may not work for your space and outside temp.

Your ideas about the intake and exhaust are not quit right. There is a fan that pulls air from outside over the outside of the exhaust pipe (to preheat it). This fan actually pushed the combustion gasses all the way out the exhaust. The exhaust exiting should be a little hot. In very cold temps, frost can build up around the air intake, which is right around the exhaust pipe. If you see this you will need to keep it clean. It is a good idea to look at the exhaust everyday when it really cold.

Good luck,

Rinaai LP space heater will not shut off when set temp is reached

Test the thermistor by using an ice cube. Place the cube on the thermistor and see if the unit starts. Then using a warm towel, wrap the thermistor ans see if it stops. Watch the display to see if it is registering the changes in temp. I suspect a bad thermistor.

I found the manual online... I have the same thing, and had a couple of problems with it. I'll try to paste the link here: http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/hectors876/1004om.pdf It's 60 pages, so I wouldn't advise printing it, but save it to your favorites list ;)
