Question about Garmin GPS
I can not see the screen it is very dark
There should be an adjustment for the display brightness. try looking in settings for this adjustment. Keep in mind the brighter the display the shorter the battery life.

It sounds like it has lost its memory battery. Usually you
would get a "memory battery low" message as it is on its
way out but you don't mention that so perhaps it has
The battery is rechargeable - if you leave it switched off
and loaded with a fresh set of alkalines for a few days it
may recover. If not contact Garmin as they have replaced
many memory batteries free of charge even out of warranty.

Both solution #1&2 is correct. The GPS is a global system and with correct use of datum it will always show you the correct position. Units with preloaded maps can normally not be updated with a new area. The 72 Marine however has no preloaded map (at least not in Europe).

Let the battery totally die, pressed the rest button and then charged the battery fully and then turned it on. The screen came on and it is working just fine now.
