Re: Do you have plastic replacement shield for light bulb...
I'm betting 60 watt is much higher than the wattage recommended generating way too much heat in the confined space under the plastic shield. There should be a sticker in the bulb compartment listing the maximum wattage recommended.

If you are not getting any flame effects or the glowing ember bed, the bulbs (60 watt, small base chandelier) may be burner out.
To replace them, remove the plexiglass front and then the logs. The plastic glowing ember bed just lifts out, exposing the bulbs. Before replacing them, check to make sure they are not just loose in the holders.
Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
The current Convertible Deluxe rangehood from GE doesn't support a two-way (light/night light bulb). You can use an incandescent light with an A15 type (60 watts or less) or a compact fluorescent (A17 or T2) with an ordinary screw base that draws no more than 13 watts. Some models can only use the incandescent light (RN328, JN327, JV338). The recommended compact fluorescents are available from www.gelighting.com (product codes: 85383 or 47486). Check you manual or products.geappliances.com for a pdf of your manual.
I wish that I could be of more help.

They are indeed the same bulb, a 10W halogen.
Care must be taken not to touch the lamp, as the oils from the skin will shorten its life.
In many recent models, the oven must be removed from the wall (a two-person job due to safety concerns) and the cover must be removed.
The manufacturers consider this a "technician-only" type job to lessen their liability.
You can find helpful exploded view diagrams of both ovens and order the bulbs here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383
You can enter your full actual model number at either the GE or Sears parts site listed below and get exploded view diagrams and parts lists.
On many newer ovens, they have to be removed from the wall so you can remove the outer cover to replace the bulbs on top of the chassis, in the rear, or near the hood openings.
This is a safety measure to protect the customer from line voltage and high voltage.
It's important to have clean and dry hands when you handle the new bulb, especially if it's a halogen type.
