We think that it stopped running due to no fuel. the engine ran rough ever since. Seems to be flooding to the point that fuel was getting into the oil in the sump. Running rough ever since.

Get a cylinder compression test done to check head gasket and to check head is not warped or cracked.
if head gasket or head problem = one cylinder may be affected causing fuel could get into the oil via a blown head gasket. if one cylinder not firing it would run rough.

Has the engine been over heated recently ?

Not printing black

Sounds like the print head needs alignment. If an "auto" alignment can't or won't be run, somewhere in the maintenance section of your printer driver software should be an operation for running a print head alignment and doing adjustments to get the printer aligned for clear printing. First you should check the maintenance program for "head cleaning" and run a couple of head cleaning cycles to see if a clogged head is the problem...

Makita gas trimmer RBC221. engine runs fine but trimmer head does not turn.

would suggest that the cable that runs the head is broken or there is too much material wrapped around the head... remove the engine off the trimmer and check the cable that runs to the head....

Blown head gasket?runs real bad, water out the exaust.

Well, it your running water out the exhaust, you can bet your heads are cracked. Its not just the head gasket. Check the salvage yards for a replacement head. It will save you alot.

Despite repeated cleaning I cannot get the printer to work properly. I suspect that it may require a new print-head, Any recommendations as to where I might get one?

Before you throw out your print-head, try this to clear it:
-leave the printer on for a day
-run several head cleanings and print the nozzle check pattern
-if that doesn't fix it, remove the cartridge(s) from the blocked head and drop alcohol where the ink enters the printer.
-reinsert the cartridges
-run one head cleaning
-wait about an hour then run some head cleanings.
-dip the print heads in Isopropyl Alcohol overnight, which you can buy from chemist

If no luck, then look for a replacement on at a Canon authorized seller or Ebay, Amazon or Alibaba, although I warn you that the print-head might cost as much as a new printer.

Despite cleaning ink head many times, the yellow cartridge seems blocked as colour not showing

You will have to clean the print head, not just the ink cartridges. Here's how to clear blocked print heads:
-run several head cleanings and print the nozzle check pattern
-if that doesn't fix it, remove the cartridge(s) from the blocked head and drop alcohol where the ink enters the printer.
-reinsert the cartridges
-run one head cleaning
-wait about an hour then run some head cleanings.
-if no luck, you may want to dip the print head into Isopropyl Alcohol overnight (can get it from chemist)
-if it still doesn't work, your print head may be clogged to the point where it needs repair or replacement, which will probably cost more than a new printer.

One head freezes

You are short of refrigerant, the evaporators (heads) run in series and if you run short of refrigerant one of them will have reduced or no cooling depending on the amount of refrigerant left in the system. You should make sure that a leak in the system is found before just recharging the system or you will have to do it again in the near future.
