    I don't have restore discs, I tried Alt+F10 and it says: "Disk Error, press any key to restart". Without pressing anything it says: Error loading operating system" Any help? thanks

1-See if your hdd have recovery partition,otherwise arrange a windows disk to check further.
2- use windows live bootable CD to check hdd.

Can I boot to BIOS without an operating system


Restart your computer

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or F2 key
this will vary depending on your computer and operating system

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

this will set the boot order

I dont have the instillation cd


well without an installation cd you wont be able to install whatever it is??? unless you download it from the internet but if its an operating system and you dont have one to connect to the net you are in trouble or might try factory defaults if your operating system is giving problems

alt f10 will not cause hang of your system. In which scenarios you get the hang problem. What os you are using?

please clarify, for example, on a lot of acers you need to hit alt+f10 to bring up the hidden restore partition....

Try looking up the hidden partition instructions for your laptop and if there is not one then get back to me.

Hi 
Well this is a problem if you didn't make a factory disk nor backed up the system configurations then only thing that will work is to reinstall the operating system. Here is a trick that Acer will never tell you 
press the on button and imedetly press ALT + F10 in this order ALT + F10 - ALT + F10 until it goes into recovery mode all the Acers that has 2 partitions have the recovery mode then click on recover to factory defult this will load the factory operating system + driversand applications
