Probably not getting red ink. You should chek the level of your red ink. Also the cartridge mighbe be obstucted. Install a new red ink cartrirge

SOURCE: Dell 1250C color laser printer using A5 200gsm light card. Problem patches of color rub off and dirty residue left on non-print areas

Usually when you get some color rub off what you are trying to print, it means that the ink waste pad are getting to full.

Every time you initialize the printer, test it, replace a cartridge, it needs to test by trying to get the ink out. When it is doing so without paper, the ink goes into an absorbant fabric usually called waste ink pads.

In your case you can ask Dell support where these are located and take a look at them. If you see that they are overflooded with ink there is your issue with the plinting residue.

Most of the time these pads are not officially replaceable, beacause it is better economically speaking to change the printer rather that going to the hassle of changing these.

But if you have time and are not affraid of taking appart your printer, you can either remove them and chang them, or try to clean and dry them then put them back.

It is difficult but sometimes it is the only way, because in cases were it is not supported bu the manufacturer you will not find any proffessional computer shop to do that job, and even if you find one it won't be for less than the price of a new equivalent printer.

Hope this helps.

Just wondering: my printer's yellow and black toner are both empty and need replacing. Would this cause the printer to calibrate for minutes at a time? After calibrating, I tried printing a document with...

If your going to print in color may it be just red or blue. You really need all of the cartridges for it to work. Because for the printer to come up with those colors. It would need all three colors Cyan, Magenta and Yellow to come up with the any color, in your problem, Blue and Red.

Only prints in green and blue

You are more than likely out of magenta (red) ink. That printer uses a tri-color cartridge, and it has cyan (blue) magenta (red) and yellow ink. Green is blue + yellow-therefore you do have those two colors; since it will not print anything red or black you will need to replace both cartridges.

Yellow toner usage is high , ventilator at back panel is yellow. Cannot print pure red colors

I would guess the yellow toner cartridge is leaking. Clean out the printer, including the fan and air path to the back panel vent, and inspect the mechanics of the yellow cartridge section. If no abnormalities are seen there, try a different yellow cartridge. Stray or excess yellow toner might mess up all of your colors - do you see green blotches in blue areas?

If you had normal toner usage, I'd suspect a problem with the corona wire for yellow that lets the toner blow away from the paper instead of adhering. That would leave your reds with a magenta hue and paint the fan yellow.

You could even have both problems if toner powder has contaminated the high voltage contacts.

Printer prints colours in different colours

Either you are out of red ink or the print head is getting plugged. Most printers substitute the nearest available color when a color runs out or the head is plugged. As some shades of red are made with yellow mixed, it therefore prints only in yellow if red is unavailable.

Pictures coming out green

On a picture that you have printed, when you see an area of green, what color should it be? You probably have reduced flow of one of the "balancing" colors. Blue, Yellow and Red add up to Black. If your picture is supposed to be almost black and you don't have enough red, the color will pull toward the blue and yellow, giving it a green tint.

Light or Faded Areas in Solid Color Prints

If the issue is occuring in the same place on all prints, try the imaging drum (can't remember if this printer even uses one) or the transfer belt/roller (not sure which it uses). If you phone Dell support, they should run you through troubleshooting and send you either of those parts free of charge if you are under warranty. If not, buy them anyways; they don't degrade over time (if kept in the dark) and can be saved for when the currently installed one runs out if you don't need it to fix this issue.

Yellow on all color printings

What photo program do you use? Is the yellow background on all Word doc's? You should check WORD go to the Format|Background make sure "no fill" is selected. You should also check your print properties in control panel and any special program DELL uses. Make sure there isn't some custom setting that is printing the yellow background. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim
