Hi. Did the water get really hot just before the water heater tank shut off? If so, and if your water heater is electric, the temporary fix is to shut off the main, and water heater circuit breakers, (at the main electrical panel) then remove the upper cover, on the metal face of the water heater (there are two, upper and lower) Then carefully remove the insulation, and plastic thermostat cover. Underneath, there will be a large red button, located at the top of the upper thermostat. If you can see the red button through the thermostat cover, then removal is unnecessary. When pushed in, if you hear a "click" it should fire up the water heater. you will hear sizzling and popping noises to let you know it's on. Remember, this is very temporary! As this is an over temperature, (high limit switch) safety device, take replacement of the thermostats seriously ok? My suggestion may or may not be the answer you are looking for, depending on your water heater, but is standard for the majority of home residential electric water heaters.
If you attempt the replacement yourself, be sure to get the exact same, upper and lower thermostats! That way you will be sure the old wiring will reach and you wont have to replace any wires, with longer one's. The correct wiring diagrams will be on the back of the new thermostat's packaging. match up the correct diagram to your water heater, BEFORE disconnecting anything. When done, BE SURE the thermostat's are in their retainer clips, and are touching the bare tank tightly, on the backside. They cant measure temperature without contact.

How Do I restart the rheem 81v30d

Rheem does not post service manuals.
One reason is that water heaters have changed rapidly last few years, and same model might have different features because Rheem experiments to see which products work after they are sold.

Calls to Rheem for DIY help are largely useless since they want you to call local installer or technician... who will sell you a new heater for more money.
Rheem wants to end DIY repairs since doing it yourself saves you money... which means Rheem, and Rheem-loyal service companies make less money.

Thermostat for mdl te420t

Take the.plate off of the bottom cover of the water heater after turning off the breaker or removing the fuse from your main electrical panel. After you have done this and the plate is off remove the insulation from over the plastic cap that covers the thermostat/heating element. This thermostat. Controls both heating elements if your heater has two elements. After you take the plastic cover off the thermostat, turn the dial counterclockwise to the desired temp. I find that a 125 degrees is optimum for my household, but I live alone. If you have a family you may want to go a bit higher, 130-140. Also if it is electric get a water softener. It will save you time, money, sweat, and a lot cussing while you're changing water heater elements. Learned from experience on that one plus it deeps your fixtures lime free. Best investment I ever made.

Water heater not making hot water

1) Electric water heater can be repaired, no need for new one.
Copy following links:

2) Ordinary homeowner can turn 6-year electric tank into a lifetime tank.

3) If you replace heater, then buy inexpensive tank-type from local box store, and use coupon or offer 10% off. Read the product manual.
Avoid tankless at all costs unless you are rich.
No need to buy expensive water heater on the promise of thicker insulation or higher energy factor, or 'lifetime elements' or 'advanced technology', any other slicker promotion aimed at folks with the promise of a golden rainbow of money-saving-bliss if only you would spend more money. All costs are energy. Expensive water heaters do not pay back, and 1 repair will dissolve all anticipated savings. And expensive heaters can never be maintained to last as long as ordinary tank-type electric.

My husband replaced both elements on our water heater (model # 81V400) I'm not sure what he done but we had hot water for a day but now it isn't working again.he replaced the bottom one with a camco screw...

The tank has to be completely full of water before turning on electricity or elements will instantly burn out:

I would take 40 minutes and do complete troubleshoot before replacing anything else.
This requires $5 multimeter from home center.
Put battery in multimeter.
When testing voltage, rotate multimeter dial to 240-250-277VAC
When testing continuity and elements, rotate multimeter dial to Ohms

There are a lot of words on the page, but everything is simple and anybody can fix their own electric water heater.
After that, water heater is no longer a mystery and you can save money instead of ever calling service technician again.

I have a Paloma PTG-74PVN tankless natural gas water heater. It was installed 3 years ago and has worked great until 2 days ago. Currently, the water heater will run for approximately 10 minutes, i.e....

Try turning the thermostat uo a small amount and see if this makes a difference. I suspect the control board is bad but I would try adjusting t-stat before I spent money on board or service call. Thank you

Electric Bosch tankless water heater wont heat water.

Here is the run down>
Water too cold Neon light on:
1). Water flow is too high-adjusting the water flow as follow; open fully both inlet and outlet shut-off valves at the heater, then turn on fully the highest flowing hot water faucet closest to the outlet connection. Adjust the outlet shut-off valve until the water flow from the hot faucet corresponds to the approximately 3.6gal/min at 105 degree.
2). One of the power supplies is not on-check the breaker box, there should be three ganged breaker, each corresponds to each of the heater power supply.
3). The power supply voltage has dropped-reset the breaker in the breaker box.
4). Temperature dial is turned too low- temperature adjustment is made using the dial on the bottom edge of the unit. The adjustment is between approximately 95 and 135 degree F. Turning the dial clockwise increase the temperature settings.
5). The inlet water temperature has dropped-readjust the temperature dial.

Attached link is for Bosch hotwater heater installation. This should give you idea as to what to look for.
