It reads CDs but when i insert a DVD it simply does nothing the rom does'nt spin at all what to do?

Go to Start , Right click, select Explore
When the list appears on your left hand side place the pointer of the mouse over the letter for the DVD drive
Right click and select Properties right click and it will give you a series of options
Select Autoplay and a screen will open that will allow you to apply various options for playing stuff as soon as the drawer is closed
