If the turntable is a belt drive, most likely the belt has probably disintegrated due to ozone contamination over time and must be replaced if this is the case. Once you have the platter off you can see the spindle that drives the platter to see if it is moving.

i don't know if these are belt driven or not but i would check to see if the belt fell off, if motor driven then i would suspect a bad motor.

SOURCE: No control of platter speed

One of the drive circuits on the main board are faulty, and will need to be replaced. This is not an easy fix, so you will need to take it to a qualified service center for service and repair. Not an expensive fix, but a little time consuming in isolating the issue.

SOURCE: turntable must be started by hand

This sounds like the stepper motor that drives the turntable is failing. Are there any good DJ shops near to you?

SOURCE: technics sl 1210 will not start up

did you ever open the turntable. It sounds like the on/off switch is bad. Remove the platter and screws with a phillips screw driver and just make sure the connections are in place. make sure you disconnect the power first. let me know what happens afterwards.

SOURCE: Nothing happen when pressing the Start/Stop button.

One ov my decks (same Gemini PT-1000 II) had the same problem. Just open it and clean the micro switches underneath the big buttons. It worked fine for me.

I bought two numark ttx usb turntables of ebay with no warranty, they were from the usa. one of the turntables works fine the other did not even turn on at all. i thought it must be that i did't flivk the...

Here is a copy paste from Numark's Quick start owner manual page 3:
3. Voltage Selector:
This switches the internal voltage transformer between 115V, 230V and 240V. The turntable should be shipped with the proper voltage setting for your region. Check that the switch is in the proper voltage before connecting the power cord to prevent damage to the turntable.
At page 2 also there is a diagram showing the exact place for that switch.
So I can't believe that this turntable is stricted for use under 115V. Also, as far as I know from my experience (23 years Electronics Engineer), the only thing that coulg be before the transformer is either the voltage selector switch, or some kind of ac filter. The only case that I'm not sure, is the case that you powered up the turntable at a 230V area and the Numark's voltage selector was set at 115V. In that case the transformer should be burned and the service should replace it and charge you the cost for that.
I think that there is something strange at your case. Why don't you check at another service center at your area?

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Belling BEL-CJ/SS25 microwave

My Belling BEL-CJ/SS25 Microwave / oven / grill has recently developed a problem. Every time I close the door the turntable starts rotating, even when I'm not using it. It doesn't make a noise, and doesn't seem to be going into any cooking setting, and the light doesn't come on, but it turns until I open the door, when the light comes on and the turntable stops turning. This has only recently started happening, and nothing else seems to be wrong with it, Is this safe or should I get rid of it and buy a new one. The guarantee has expired so repair may be cost prohibitive.

Audio Technica AT-PL50 will not function.

most likely it's a 120vac motor. Get the bottom off and look for where power comes in somewhere on or around the base of the tonearm will be an actuator switch. unplugged, set the meter for ohms and operate the switch by moving the tone arm. You may have to use clip leads to get a free hand. The switch should read 0 ohms when the tonearm is moved. If not, you've got a bad switch.
While you are in there look around for anything that may have come loose or unplugged. Also, with it plugged in you should read somewhere between 110-120Volts ac between neutral and the motor side of the switch, when actuated. BE CAREFUL 110v can be lethal, or at the very least cause an unpleasant experience. Good luck

My 1200 is making a loud buzzing noise!

Yes, that large metal box is the housing for the transformer. Not too hard to replace, but if not done properly can cause serious damage to your turntable.

I've never heard of a transformer on these units causing a buzzing noise. Did you buy this used or new? If it's new, it's highly unlikely that the issue is with the transformer. However, we have been seeing some 'unusual' issues with Technics 1200s lately, which we attribute to a decline in quality standards @ Matsushita (Technics parent company).

The transformer can be purchased HERE. There really isn't much to replacing this part, just put it back exactly as you took it apart. Take pictures along the way, to help you if you get stuck. Also take some notes on where each part goes.

If you get stuck along the way, feel free to give us a call. Our service techs are masters with the 1200s, and we can walk you through it: 1.866.668.1596 ext 1

Turntable doesn't turn

If you just purchased and Installed the microwave, I would call Sears and tell them what is happening, generally, it would still be under warranty if less than a year old. If its a countertop model, you may have to take it in, otherwise they should come to the home for the repair. I would also NOT indicate that you have looked at it as that would void your warranty.
Otherwise, it seems like the problem could be, a) touchpad , b) a relay or c) the main control board
