Question about Uniden GPS
I pressed the reset button, but the original message still keeps appearing!
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

try to make sure that the clear "ribbon" is situated correctly inside the unit, otherwise it will not communicate correctly with the moving electronics in the cartridge tray

SOURCE: Tomtom 510 will not switch on.
I have in my possesion 2 Tom Tom 510s both with exactly the same problem, one was used with the incorrect (Nokia) cigar lighter charger the other suffered a Voltage spike from the vehicle it was used.
Both the input transitors have blown and as they are so small they are virtually impossible to re solder. However there is a Guy on eBay who for £80 will repair it.
I bought a different system, £70 and although basic does what it says on the tin.
Sorry to bring bad tidings,

For a master reset on the GPS V Hold down the ZOOM OUT and QUIT buttons while powering up. (This only works with units that run version 2.20 of the firmware and earlier.)
You will loose all info (waypoint, routes, tracks) when you do this though.

Thats very strange. Noka firmwares are not that much different in size. Perhaps this new software added a bunch of Apps to your phone. Select Menu>Applications>app mgr and look at the apps on your phone. For example, there might be a whole bunch of games or Ngage. Delete anything that you don't need. And see if it helps.Don't worry about screwing it up as you can always reflash your phone again.
By the way, Downgrading is not possible with Nokia Software udater. Even with profeccional equipment, its pretty hard to downgrage a N series Nokia phone.

Tap "Reset factory settings" button to restore the factory settings to your TomTom XL. All your settings, including Favourites, your Home location, warnings for POIs and any Itineraries you have created are deleted.
Tap "Set Clock" button to select the type of clock that is shown and set the time.
go to tomtom website ----> support scroll down at the right hand side click Find downloads
hope this help
