SOURCE: kobalt air compressor will not go above 80PSI

if this is an older or much used unit, cylinder/piston may be worn, unable to push higher psi, which would explain no leaks. if newer unit, seems like regulator unit/valve faulty

SOURCE: on my kobalt digital air compressor i have 150

This was a poor design for kobalt with digital readouts.. The compressor waqs made by several comanies including campbell hausfield and porter cable, But some were imported.

There under the controls is a switch that cuts out the motor, It looks like an oil pressure switch on older cars. There is also a manifold tree that holds the guages and the regulator. There will also be a circuit board that holds the electronics for the regulator control.

Remember you have to set a value to bring up the pressure and the board senses the tank pressure and "Bleeds" off via a solenoid to hold the pressure. The ticking sound you hear is the solenoid, ITs not repair/replacable.. its part of the controls.

If the unit is under warranty you might eant to ask lowes who is their off site repair center, or ask is it available to be exchanged.

Personally, and professionally.. this model is oiless, so it has a shorter life as to being reliable compared to oil lubrication. For the extra bucks you will come out with a more reliable and easier to service model.

My 60 gallon kolbalt was running and stop when it filled now it wont go o ever with the tank drain it spins free it does nothing no sounds either

When you say it does nothing do you mean the motor wont come on or the motor comes on and it wont build pressure? if the motor comes on, there are several possibilities:
1. The unloader valve is stuck open
2. The valves in the head are bad
3. The flywheel is loose
If the motor wont come on, the pressure switch is bad (which holds the unloader valve open)

My kobalt air compressor model#215914 won't stop running is it suppose's do that?

All compressors run up to their rated high pressure level, usually listed on the data plate on the compressor or in the manual, then the pressure regulator turns them off. If your compressor is not shutting off it is either not getting to the pressure it takes to get the pressure regulator to turn it off or the pressure regulator is broke and won't turn the motor off. To check which, turn the compressor on and watch the guage that shows tank pressure. If the pressure rises then stops at a level below the rated pressure for your compressor and the motor continues to run, you have a leak somewhere. It could be the tank drain valve, the lines from the pump to the tank, the valve plate or in the piston cylinder area. If the pressure rises more than ten psi above the rating for your tank, your pressure regulator is broke or possibly set too high. If you know how, you can try lowering the shutoff point to see if that fixes it but you're usually better off replacing the regulator.

Compressor runs to 175psi but trips pressure relief when pressure drops tries to restart motor but motor wont turn blows breaker. changed whole pressure switch have same problem.

The problem is lilkely the check valve between the compressor and the tank -- it is alowing pressure to build from tank to compressor preventing the compressor from turning over. Clean, maybe replace, check valve...

I have an ingersoll-rand upright compressor model 2545k10-p, 10 hp, 120 gal, 175psi compressor, and the electric motor will run for about 15-20 seconds and then automatically shut off, and be really hot....

Does the motor rotate the compressor or just set there and hum? How old is this unit? Overload heaters may be to small or unit may be single phaseing. Is there air pressure in the tank when this happens.

Replacing the valve assembly on a Kobalt air compressor. Does the flappers go to the tank tube side or the compression side?

Look at the way the air comes threw the head and out to the discharge this should tell you which way it should go.

Kobalt k7060hfv compressor runs and will not build pressure?

Outside of failure of the valveplate or head gasket for the compressor, (and possibly because of it) I'd guess the tank check valve may have received some trash (they are very sensitive to foreign matter) and may be sticking open. This would cause a limitation on what if any pressure could be stored in the tank.
