Electrolux PHSC39EESS5 refrigerator: EF code, but evaporator fan is working (usually). sometimes at restart, compressor and fan will start, then stop after 1 minute. is there other reason for EF error...

Hi,

When this happens your fans is getting the incorrect information on how to run, on some occasions both the fan and control to the fridge had to be replaced at the same time. Disconnect the evaporator fan motor and run the unit as normal. If the computer allows the compressor to run at least five mins, just replace the fan motor, if not replace both.
Control board is under the unit Part# 241511102 (only if needed)
Parts number for fan motor P#241509402 both of these parts should be available through your local part house or REPAIR CLINIC, to avoid shipping cost and any return issue you may have.
I hope this helps, good luck

Lost power briefly last night and now neither the freezer or the refrigerator are cooling. Lights on... fan blowing; just not blowing appropriately cool air....help?

IF the compressor is working and pumping coolant to the evaporator coils then it will probably cure itself. BUT if the compressor is very hot to the touch it might have locked up.
Sometimes during power surges the compressor start relay or capacitor is blown and will require replacement, but there are multiple possibilities that could also cause it, but first you need to check that the compressor is working before exploring them.

Burnig smell, then no cold air from blower

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

This is not what you want to hear but the symptom you describe is exactly what will happen if the evaporator fan motor winding fails. The question is.... did it just fail or.. was the evaporator blocked with ice due to an Automatic Defrosting Problem that resulted in a block of ice forming on the evaporator and locking the fan blades in place causing the fan winding to fail? They do just sometimes out right fail but, you have to consider all possibilites.

I can help you locate an evaporator fan replacement if you respond with your model number or you can go to http://www.searspartsdirect.com and do a MODEL search near the top right side of the page using your complete model number.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

i dont believe ur mother board is gonna be ur problem its either gonna make something turn on or off not burn anything up unless it jus totally shorted out and sent power surges to the parts ( highly unlikely)

Evaporator fan works sometimes

by the sound of it , i would get a new evap fan,
as the power to the fan is switching on - thats why
you can flick it and get it running, the power is there.
it is a common problem with evap fans.

I have the Marvel 70 bottle wine cooler and it is making loud whining noise like if you put a stick in the wheel of spinning bike spokes when it is cooling down sometimes. it does not seem to be the fan...

I believe the 6SBAR has an evaporator fan located behind the evaporator plate ( the cooling plate) inside the unit. They had some issues with the bearings in those fans failing and will sound like a small jet engine sometimes (high pitched whine). When you hear the noise, open the door and if the noise level changes (either gets louder or goes away) then it is the evaporator fan. If your noise is coming from the compressor area and does not change when you open the door, it is most likely the condenser fan blade is loose. The evaporator fan looks like a small computer cooling fan and is located near the bottom center of the evaporator plate (out of site). The factory sells a replacement kit with a much better fan and new power supply. You can reach them at 800-223-3900. Good-luck.

Frigidaire gallery fridge model glhs269zdw1 not working after power surge..fridge lights are on and I can hear fan running..the water dispenser also stopped working.

You are hearing the evaporator fan in the freezer but not the compressor motor, therefore no cooling. This is a classic symptom of a bad control board - you will need to check and replace the circuit board ! best of luck

Evaporator fan has stopped working

Check and make sure the other two connections are solid.sometimes when the fan gets unplugged, the terminal gets loose and looses connection where it is soldered into the fan motor. Some models need to be a certain temperature in order for the fan to work. You can check voltage to the fan also. There should be 120V to the fan. Makes sure the fan/light switch is pushed in (on some models). If I can assist you further, please let me know.

Thanks
Vic
