Question about Electrical Supplies

1 Answer

Sorry the whole question wasn't on there. I moved a twenty amp beaker to the left side of the breaker box. It's the one that carries most of my kitchen. Now my kitchen light switch when on shuts on the other half of the house. When off the other half of the house comes back on.

Why did you move from one side to the other? What you say about the kitchen light is not possible. Did you also relocate wires from any other location inside the panel box. Also, is it possible for you to attach photos of your panel and perhaps a list of each breakers circuit.

Yes. There are times where not only different styles of breakers are used but different brands as well. They all function very similar and can be placed into the same box without issues.

RE: Power windows quit working 1986 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer

Hi Steve,
If you have a test light check each side of the circuit beaker, one end on the battery neg and the other on each terminal of the circuit breaker.
If you don't find one that only has power on one side, get some to try the windows while you check them again, the circuit beaker may only be failing under load.

Check the breakers, by FULLY turning it off and then back on. What happens, commonly, is the heat side of the 220 breaker trips. If it keeps happening, sometimes you need a new breaker, but DO NOT increase the amp rating of the breaker. Breakers that trip from time to time, eventually start tripping EARLIER.

Dryer runs good noheat

Electric or gas? Electric maybe the the dual beaker didn't pop both sides. On Electric 220 v, 115 to the motor and controls 115 to the heating elements. Check the house breaker box see if breaker is tripped. On gas could be many things. Starter, thermal coupler, clogged pilot, ect.

Just connect a pair of breakers of the correct amperage. A pair is above and below, not side by side. Breaker boxes alternate left leg, right leg, left leg, right leg the whole way down.

Hello: I have an old electrical box with the old style Zinsco beakers. For some reason, the left side of the main 200 amp breaker continues to go out. only one side. the breaker arks right where I screw...

The screw is loose. It is always HOT (has electricity going to it) so be careful. If you feel confident, cover a screwdriver with a few layers of electrical tape and tighten it. Depending on how long it has been arcing, the breaker will need to be replaced. Since the incoming wire will have power to it, have a licensed electrician do the job. He will possibly remove the meter head to cut the power while he does the work.

Let me try to send you to a quick fast electrical course on wiring size vrs amp draw it can carry before it burns into. The breaker box can send out the rated amps the wire comming into the box its sized for. (example. #3 can carry 10 amps) then it is distributed thru breaker thru the wires to the loads amp draw. depends on the maxium rated amp draw of the load, the wire can carry a certain amount of heat or amps. Ceck the max. rated amps or heat draw it can carry to size your wires & breaker,! thank you very much!
