What is the soft key

Look at the display on your phone. You'll see some labels at the bottom. These correspond to the keys just below the display. The meaning and function of these keys vary according to context, and the labels change to reflect that. Thus the keys are "soft" in that their meanings change.

Nokia n70 formating method

Soft reset: This will clean up your phone memory. All user data, applications etc stored in the phone memory will be destroyed. Type *#7370#. Enter the security code when prompted; default is 12345.

Hard reset: This is the last resort, if nothing else works. Result is the same as a soft reset. Turn off your phone, press and hold down these keys: the call (Green) button, '*', '3'. Turn on your phone without releasing them. Leave the keys only after you see the region selection screen. You might require multiple attempts because it's a bit tricky holding three keys together.

Reinstall the firmware: Download and install the latest Nokia Software Updater. Make sure your PC is running fine, and the internet connection is stable. Then, connect your phone, and run NSU. Follow on-screen instructions. Make sure that your battery is full and that you have a charger handy, in case the battery wears down.

Hi My mx revolution switches back and forth in between hyper-fast scrolling and geared scrolling by itself as i scroll through long documents. Any advice?

I had a similar problem with my mouse a few days back. I have fixed it and here is what I found to be the possible causes
1)You mouse's optical sensor(near the laser) is dirty. Please take a soft cloth and wipe it clean and see if it solves the problem. Otherwise goto step 2
2)It is also possible that your mouse drivers are corrupted. Please uninstall the device using windows device manager, and then re-install the driver

Let me know if it worked,
Sai.

The keypad 3, 6 and 9 of my sonyericcson k750i are not functioning....

If you feel confident and competent enough, try taking your phone apart and giving the internals a good clean, take the white keypad PCB out and clean both it's contacts and the contacts on the phone's mainboard, and clear out any dust. Put the phone back together and see if that's solved the problem. It could also simply be that the keypad connector has worked loose

Key Pressed : Key presses phone appears to see
:
3 : 3 then left soft key
6 : 6 then right soft key
9 : 9 then back
c : c then #
left soft key : 3 then left soft key
right soft key : 6 then right soft key

(All the other keys worked correctly)

As I didn’t know what was causing this I attempted to move all data stored on the phone to the memorystick so I could master reset and possibly reflash, although after this I returned to the homescreen to find all keys had started functioning correctly again,

if your button stopped working it can be causing an extra drain on your battery via a short of some kind. Because of the sensitivity of cell phones you will probably have to replace the phone. Most likely causes for this problem are:

  • wear and tear
  • dropping the phone
  • poor battery maintenance
  • getting the phone wet or using the phone in the bathroom (seriously).
