While sewing with my Bernina 1030 the machine suddenly stopped. The wheel is very difficult to turn by hand now. I took the bobbin out and cleaned. Now machine still gets stuck after a few stitches. C

SOURCE: Janome Memory Craft 9500 Troubleshooting

The solution that I found last night was the thread tension. I have never touched the dial, only had it set on 'auto." When I started playing with it, I realized the top thread should be really easy to pull through the machine and it wasn't. I started turning the dial (to 3 or 4) and the thread slid through the machine perfectly. No more birds nest! I really thought it was bobbin initially because of the horrible sound it was making.

SOURCE: I have a Necchi 537FA sewing machine. It sill sew

have you checked to see if the needle is bent-lay the needle on a flat surface & roll the needle over,, if the needle does not roll good -replace
blunt needle-if the needle makes a popping sound when the needle penetrates the fabric,,the needle is blunt-replace
sometimes if the thread comes off the thread take-up lever it can jam the thread in the bobbin area
try rethreading the machine
check to make sure the thread isn't wrapping around the spool pin
check the spool of thread to see if the notch on the spool is catching the top thread
check to see if there's a burr on the bobbin case
I hope one of these suggestions helps you

Why bernina electronic wheel won't turn and motor bogs down

You don't mention which model Bernina you have. If it is a Bernina mechanical, ie 930 Record, it sounds like it hasn't been cleaned or oiled in a while and the oil has hardened making it difficult for the motor to move the parts. Pick up some Bernina oil for "mechanical" machines, or for a quick fix a bottle of Tri-Flow Synthetic Oil at the hardware store. Following the diagram in your manual, put one or two drops of oil every place indicated (be sure to oil both the top of your machine and the area below the sewing surface). In your case, pay particular attention to the oil holes located nearest the handwheel. That is probably where the problem is worst. To help loosen things up, you can direct heat from a hand-held hair dryer into the interior of the machine. In the future, be sure to keep your machine cleaned and oiled on a regular basis. My policy is every time I change bobbins, after 8 hours of continuous sewing, or every six months if the machine has not been in use.

My bernina 1030 is not feeding the fabric, it is sewing in one place

Make sure your feed dogs are not set for free motion or darning. Once you switch them to regular sewing you will need to turn your hand wheel 1 rotation for them to come up. Also make sure that your stitch length is not set at 0.

your motor is going out. time to replace or rebuild your motor. both are high skill and should be attempted by a professional. take it to your nearest bernina shop.

How about turning your handwheel at least 2 complete revolutions towards you? It works on Singers, maybe you can be lucky and have it work for you. Good luck

Bobbin spindle won't spin

Check the bobbin winder rubber, it may be worn or broken and insufficient friction against handwheel to turn.........or a thread jam around spindle is stopping the spin. In this case, carefully unwind, DO NOT cut thread.

Heat the wheel with a hair dryer to loosen. If this does not help, you will need to visit an authorized Bernina dealer.
