Hello!

most dishwashers have springs on each side of the door bottom that can be moved to different mount points to adjust tension.

In many cases they may be accessed by removing the bottom kick panel, but it may be necessary to back off the from adjuster legs, remove any other cabinet securing screws and pull the unit out slightly.

All the best.

SOURCE: Door Tension

just about the most difficult job to do on a dishwasher, not normally a job for the home mechanic, i am an appliance engineer of 20 years and often shy away from jobs like this,

there is often no adjustment, the hinges are sprained, more often that not by people either putting weight on the door to stand back up, or children climbing on to get higher

the only thing i think you can do is to check the springs are in place and nothing is broken or just come off that can be put back?? sorry

SOURCE: adjusting the door on a neff dishwasher

I have the same problem with my newly installed Miele integrated dishwasher. The door does not stay open when you are trying to load dishes. I heard that there is an adjustable internal mechanism to adjust the tension on the door. But, I am still working on solving my problem.

you should be able to remove the lower acess panel, and the tension springs are on both sides, cant really picture how to adjust tension( font or back), but there should be enough room to get a flashlight and you hands under there to make the adjustment

How do I adjust the springs on the door of a Frigidaire dishwasher Model # FDB24?

Springs run down both sides of the dishwasher from the door hinge to the back leg area of the frame at the bottom leg area. You adjust the spring/door tension but moving the spring to different holes in the frame area. Going one direction in the holes will loosen the door, going the other direction will make the door tighter.

Door hinge tension adjustment

You have to change the springs at the bottom back. It; s easy. You must buy the item 0509 at this page or anyother you like http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Bosch-Parts/All-Products-Parts/Model-SHX45P05UC60/1794/0130000/1010702P/00005?blt=06&prst=&shdMod=
Then you must access the bottom side of the base of dishwasher and with a screwdriver pull off the old springs. After this you will see a cordon that you must remove it and connect this to the new springs.

Hi...can anybody tell me the name of the nylon string with moulded plastic end bits which connect the door hinge to the spring inside a beko dishwasher please. I have been trawling through parts site but...

Hi Chris,

This is commonly called a door hinge rope, hinge cord or hinge cable (or variations of). If you can let me know the model number of the dishwasher, I can check correct part number for your model and find a supplier for you.

Alternatively, the part below fits many Beko models and can be ordered direct from Beko:

http://www.beko-spares.co.uk/products/product/?p=5740&highlight=D3422FW

If you don't have one of the models listed on that page, click the link below, type your model number into the 'Product Search' box and you should find the hinge rope for your dishwasher listed in the results. Please note, you can only search the Beko site by model number. If you search for the part by name, you wont find it.

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please let me know the full model number.

Regards, BElectric

I want to fit a wooden door to a intagrated dishwasher stoves

If your dishwashermag-glass_10x10.gif door is not closing properly or has developed a leak, it may be time to replace the entire door assembly. Some other signs of a defective door include sagging, difficulty pulling the door back up into a closed position and a door that feels heavier as it drops open. Replacing a dishwasher door is not that hard, but includes several springs and hinges that must be aligned correctly or the door will not fit correctly in the opening.
  1. tep 1 Unplug the dishwasher and shut off the water before attempting to remove any parts. If you cannot reach the electrical outlet, you can turn off the breaker switch that controls the electricity for the kitchen. Remove the drain hose that runs from the dishwasher unit to the sink drain.
  2. Step 2 Pull the dishwasher out from the cabinet until you have clear access to the side of the unit. Ask a friend for help with this part if the unit is too heavy for you to slide out without straining your back.
  3. Step 3 Check your dishwasher's owner's manual to find out exactly how the outer door panels are removed. Some models have a two-panel door where the control panel must be removed before the lower panel will come off. Otherwise, the door panel should be one solid piece or a two-piece assembly that allows the lower section to be removed separately to access the springs and hinges.
  4. Step 4 Remove the springs at the bottom of the door. Depending on the type of dishwasher you have, there may be a tension adjustment dial or simply a series of holes at different distances from the edge of the unit. If you have a tension controller, adjust it to a loose setting to make it easier to remove the door springs. Unhook the door springs from the hinge plate. Some dishwashersmag-glass_10x10.gif may have a cable and pulley system attached to the door springs. Check your owner's manual for removal instructions if this is the case with your model.
  5. Step 5 Use pliers to gently pull back on the door hinge plate's tab until the slot opens for the hinge pin to come out. Take out the screws holding the door hinge plate onto the front of the door panel. Hold onto the door assembly while gradually opening the door. Once the door drops down, you should be able to remove it by sliding the door off the hinge pinAlways wear safety glasses when working with the springs and hinges involved with a dishwasher door assembly. These items can fly off at high speed and cause serious injury to the eye.

The door on my dishwasher will not close

There are a few problems that can occur with the diswasher door assembly. These usually involve the latching mechanism, the door seal, the counterbalance spring assembly or the hinges. 1) The door latch plate can occasionally become out of alignment. Some door latch plates are adjustable, some aren't. If yours is adjustable, try loosening the retaining screws and repositioning the plate. It's trial-and-error, so have a lot of patience. If this doesn't work, then the latch needs replacing.
2) A new dishwasher or a newly installed door seal can be difficult to close for a while until the seal softens and compresses over time. You can try adjusting the latch, if possible.
3) If the door feels unusually heavy, there could be a problem with the counterbalance spring assembly. These counterbalance assemblies allow the door to open and close easier and are held by two springs. On some dishwasher models, holes are positioned in line so you can re-tension the springs by moving the spring hooks to other tensioning holes. If any of these springs break, they will need to be replaced as a pair.
4) The door hinges might be bent. They can seldom be adequately fixed and should be replaced.
hope this helps
