Question about RCA Televison & Video
Unplug the tv and the same thing happens. Starts up green power light on, with no sound or picture.
It would be of help if we had a model number. This could be a few different problems.

SOURCE: blue crt assmbly maybe?
its very possible that the blue CRT is horting the set out. Heres how you can test it. Remove the speaker grille and access panel behind the grille and you will see the crts. remove the blue crt circuit board from the end of the blue crt and make sure it isnt touching anything then try powering up the set if it doesnt shut down then you have found the problem and you will need a new crt. or you can switch the blue circuit with the green and try it iwth the blue on green and the green on the blue then if the screen turns green before shutting down you will know that its a problem in the blue drive circuit and not the crt. lety me know if you need further assistance.

These units have a problem with bad connections on the flyback transformer.. Usually, soldering the transformer will fix this problem. Please take time to rate this response. If I can be of further assistance, let me know

the button cluster in the front may have a bad tack switch(button) or the buttons may have loose connections. you can take the speaker grill off and look yourself...watch for wires..unplug your tv first:) also if you use spray cleaner that may have seeped into the button cluster too...you may be able to get the cluster as a whole from a local tv repair shop and put it in yourself..save labor charges:)
