Has it worked before and also check in device manager if the drivers for the camera is installed. if the camera has worked before try doing a system restore.

SOURCE: Touch Volume

really? i mean my computer was 3 days old, and i have the newest anti-virus and spyware programs running at an enourmous cost to myself...the patch i got from the hp tech online help was this...

Robert: Here is the link for HP QuickTouch Software.
Robert: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37799.exe
Robert: Please do not click on the link instead, Just copy and paste the entire link onto the address bar of your browser and press .
david hodgkins: should i uninstall the current drivers, or will they be automatically replaced?
Robert: The driver will be replaced.
david hodgkins: thanx!
Robert: Please hold on.
david hodgkins: i've already completed the download
Robert: Here is the link for HP Quick Launch Buttons.
Robert: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp38001-38500/sp38171.exe
Robert: Please do not click on the link instead, Just copy and paste the entire link onto the address bar of your browser and press .
Robert: First download it on to the desktop. Then double click on it to run the file; Once the installation completed, restart the system

this may, or may not work...the tech informed me that the firmware, or the original drivers were corrupt when installed and that this patch should work.

have a nice day,

david

Most likely you have another chat program using the camera. Right click on the icons in the systray next to the clock and exit programs. After exiting each program, try the camera again. The last program you exit before the camera is the one causing the problem. Restart the computer and right click on that program and try and set it to not start when the Windows starts.

I would guess that either a windows update changed something on this laptop, or else you have a hardware failure.
#1) The easy way to fix something like this would be to use system restore, go back to before the webcam stopped working, and use that restore point.
#2) If that does not fix your problem, visit gateway's tech support site and see if they have any updated software for your webcam. If it's still under warranty, they may be able to fix it for you, but I would guess that if #1 doesn't take care of it then an updated driver will.
If neither of these work, then I would guess there is a hardware problem with the device and it will need to be replaced. Webcam are pretty straightforward to replace for an experienced tech, but may prove daunting for the average user. An external webcam is a decent option, which are a snap to install (since they are external), connect via a USB cable, and have software included. I prefer either the Logitech product line or the Microsoft line to most other vendors.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to transfer pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

My casio exilim got virus and im unable to see my files. And it only contains of virus files that cant open. what can i do to solve this kind of problem?

All digital cameras I've ever seen do not run unsigned code (or any code for that matter) so it's very highly unlikely (or impossible) that your camera has a virus. It's probably just broken.

Put a different memory card into your camera and take a picture. If it doesn't work normally then your camera is likely broken. If it works normally then your original memory card is corrupt. If that's the case use a memory card reader (sold at Staples/Amazon/CVS) and try a program like Card Recovery, Digital Picture Recovery, or ZAR. You can usually get everything back if you didn't already overwrite everything by trying to take a bunch of pictures on a corrupt card.

If the camera itself is broken, just buy a memory card reader and get the pictures off through a computer or you can just go to a photo kiosk at any pharmacy. If you want to fix the camera, buy the parts online or buy that identical used camera from eBay in an As-is auction for next to nothing and swap parts with your own. Personally, I would just buy a new camera though. They're cheap.

The laptop cannot find the operating system on the hard disk.
First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.Next - to check if the harddrive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a workingcomputer's USB port. If this computer cannot see itas an USB mass storage device and you cannot open the various folders and fileson this drive, then this confirms the hard drive is faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

My notebook doesn't open the dvd

It sounds has if your DVD rom is on it's way out.

I get computers with DVD drives weekly with the same issue and replacing the drive always fixes this type of issue.

Rebooting the laptop/PC and then it works for first time but not the second time usually points to this and very common

It's something to do with the drive slowing and laser light

Listen, once your computer recognizes your camera, using windows explorer you can go into the innards of your camera and locate the pictures and simply copy them to any spot you want on your hard drive. U do not need any software to do that!

This could be connection to webcam is loose or unplugged. Is this a USB webcam connection or onboard? If it is USB, check connection, unplug and plug it back to see if it works. Reboot your laptop might help. If still not workings, you might need to uninstall and reinstall it. Thanks

Canot get picture during video call.

I guess the obvious question here is do you actually have a webcam fitted? If we assume yes then does the camera actually work? Again assuming yes, and assuming we're talking about skype then go into tools>options>video settings. Your camera should be listed, if it is and you are just getting a blank screen, you could try installing a program like many cam http://download.manycam.com/
Now it gets a bit weired. Open the many cam program and go into sources and select your webcam and (hopefully) it should show it working. Assuming it is then re-open skype as before and select manycam as the camera and it should then work. I've had to do this work around on a few HP laptops where the built in cam wouldn't work on skype.
