You have 1 large one by the lamp, 1 by the DMD pcb to cool the DMD chip , & 1 by the LED ICs(you need to pull the light engine back a bit to see this one)

SOURCE: i replaced the fan # 2 after getting that error on

Which fan did samsung say was fan #2 ? As from my experience dealing with Samsung they dont know the difference between the fans but fan 2 error is usually refering to the fan under the light engine in the L7 and the L6 its the small one in the gray plastic case which blows under the ballast.

SOURCE: NEED TO KNW HOW TO REPLACE NO 2 FAN ON A SAMSUNG

Hi,

Here is Fan part# BP31-00024A. Search google, find it at various places.

Light engine assembly has to be removed. This involves unplugging various connectors between processing/control chassis on the left side and engine assembly on the right side. Mounting screws on the top and bottom of engine assembly. Then remove light engine assembly completely from the TV. Fan#2 is the lamp cooling fan and is located beside the lamp assembly.

It is not too complicated if you draw a picture of where all the plugs are removed from. If one plug is not put back correctly, unit will not work. Usually a tight fight sliding out the engine. Plastic cable tie-down between the 2 assemblies can be cut and discarded, this makes re-installing light engine considerably easier.

Cheat the cabinet safety switch with tape or stretch connecting wire across it to hold it in "on" position for test after reassembly.

Service cost may be $150-$200 if you don't do it yourself. We do it in most Canada cities.

My samsung tv model hl-t6187s has no red

The red LED chip has burned out. Samsung purposely overdrives the red LED to make the colors look better and the red one usually fails from heat.

More than likely your red led is bad I have this model and I have had to replace it twice in the last four years the part is available online and is fairly easy and quick to replace if you are handy with a screwdriver the actual procedure is available in a video on YouTube for replacing it.

Samsung HL-T6187S SOUND DROPPING TO 0? By itself

If you can get at the controls again----undo or unsolder the micro switch for volume down! Remove it and see if set works.

A no brainer in that if that switch is bad and vol down still displays nothing else would work

I have a SAMSUM HL-T6187SA DLP LED 1080P. The problems I see are a Green Tint and the RED(s) display as Blue(ish). John

Hi,

It sound likes the problem of your unit is the light engine. This is very common problem on Samsung DLP TV's and tons of complaint regarding on the picture quality. If you search "Samsung DLP law suit" you will find various comment regarding on the issue.

This part is an expensive one and I would advice you to call Samsung service department (1-800-726-7864) to let it diagnose by their Technician and see if they would cover the parts.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

My tv is saying check fan no.1 and hen goes off

On the Samsung HLT6187S models (there's no difference between S, SX, SAX, etc) Fan #1 and Fan #3 are in different locations but the same part. Fan one is the fan that you see when you take the back off the set. It's right there on the left sitting at a diagonal. It draws air from the lens to keep it cool.
Fan #2 is the large fan that pushes air to the right of the TV (as you're looking at it from the back).
Fan #3 is the LED PCB fan, all the way around the right side of the TV back.
All three fans are simple to replace and takes about 3 minutes to do. Conventional wisdom stipulates replacing all three while youve got it open.
