Question about Kitchen Ranges
If you have an exact replacement for the thermostat. Draw a diagram of the wires and the location of the connections take a picture of the thermostat with your cell phone. Then compare the drawing to the picture to be sure you have all wires .once you have them all . Then if you have wires that are the same color but hooked up to different connections. Simply place a piece of tape on one of them and make note of it on your drawing . then Unhook the wires and reconnect them to new thermostat. MAKE SURE THE POWER IS off at circuit breaker.

In the UK, to connect to the connection block of a fixed integrated oven in a Kitchen, you must be a Part P Registered electrician. Such an electrician will issue a Minor Works Certificate for this work on completion - otherwise they are not Registered!
Be aware that if the work is not done under Part P and a fire occurs, etc your insurance company are entitled to REFUSE to pay out for the damage including any consequential damage to neighbours property or for loss of life!!
The block has three terminals and the Live, Neutral and Earth are indicated by marks stamped on the metal back of the cooker (if a CE product).
L = Live and takes the Brown covered wire
N = Neutral and takes the Blue covered wire
or E = Earth (CPC) and takes the green/yellow covered.
If the cable has an uncovered copper third wire or is coloured Red/Black it should be replaced from the connection accessory on the wall behind the cooker with a heat resistant 3-core Butyl cable of sufficient size to cope with the load of the oven.
If you let me know the rating of the oven (label on door) in amps or watts, I'll tell you what size of cable you need.

I need the Oven knob for the front panel. The numbers have rubbed off on mine. Thanks, in advance, for your help!

Does yours have the timer/clock thing that stands at the rear left of the stove? If so, make sure the far right dial is set at Manual. I had a repair person come out once (luckily it was someone I knew who didn't charge me) because my oven quit working. He turned the dial to manual and presto! :)

The stove has 4 burner switches with a # 2 terminal on each switch. This contact is similiar on all four switches. One of the switches # 2 contact is stuck. The burner switch should disconnect both legs of the 240 volt circuit, one leg through the # 2 terminal and one leg through the thermostat built into the burner switch. Disconnect the pilot lamp wire on each switch unti the light goes off and then replace that burner switch. This should correct the problem

In order to test the surface burner on your electric range, the following steps should be taken:
An oven thermostat is a switch that opens and closes in response to the temperature
it senses. It is typically found in the control panel, where a
liquid-filled temperature-sensing bulb senses and maintains the internal
oven temperature by cycling heat on and off.
