SOURCE: My Canon L80 is displaying

I assuming that actually dont had a paper jam prior to this message and dont have any paper disappear inside the Fax, then I could suspect the paper mis fed from the tray at the rear. That model can sometimes feed several sheets together or twist the paper as it is pulled into the printer.

Just below the sheet feeder is a jam sensor that is basically a plastic flag that when pushed by the paper breaks a light beam to indicate the paper is passing. If you get a paper jam in a printer it is important that the paper is removed in the direction it would normally feed through the printer.

If it is pulled against the normal flow of the paper then that plastic flag can break or be pulled off of it's hinges and cause a constant jam error. Either there is something still in the printer holding the jam sensor down or this has happened in your case.

There are 3 jam sensors across the path of the paper and 2 of which can suffer this problem. The one I mention and 1 in the fuser at the front. You would use a flashlight and make double sure that there are not obstructions that you can see either at the rear tray or the fuser.

If you can't find anything then the jam sensor are going to need to be checked but the rear jam sensor in particular is hidden beyond easy reach and involves quite a strip down to access so you may want to consider letting a technician do that for you.

If it had fed multiple pages in at once i would consider a new paper separation kit as they are easily fitted when the jam sensor is checked as they occupy the same area. Once multi feeding has started it often becomes frequent.

Hope helps.

Canon MX360 shows code 6000. Have switched of printer and computer and the error is still there. What do i need to do?

sounds like the gearing is out of sync. When you remove debris did you force any of the geared rods? some times if a printer has been jammed by debris i.e. your paper clip, the gearing gets out of sync as gears jump teeth. In the past I've rectified this problem by rotating gearing manually. Its a hit and miss method. try it " WITH NO POWER " to the printer. Put a sheet of paper in tray and rotate gearing by hand and watch closely all movement, pick up rollers, paper feed, head movement path etc. you'll get a feel for it .
once you get paper feeding manually try it with power.
good luck.

Canon Inkjet, Not Printing?

Hi Rosa,
There was a paper jam and you cleared the jam, however you missed out to do one other thing. Cleaning the Rollers.

If the Paper Feed Roller is dirty or paper powder is attached to it, paper may not be fed properly.
In this case, clean the Paper Feed Roller. Cleaning will wear out the Paper Feed Roller, so perform this only when necessary.

You need to prepare: three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper

1.Make sure that the power is turned on, and remove any paper from the Rear Tray.

2.Open the Paper Output Tray gently, and open the Output Tray Extension.

3.Clean the Paper Feed Roller without paper.

(1) Press the g0081065_tcm14-774017.jpg (Maintenance) button repeatedly until b appears.

(2) Press the Black or Color button.
The Paper Feed Roller will rotate as it is cleaned.

4.Clean the Paper Feed Roller with paper.
(1) Make sure that the Paper Feed Roller has stopped rotating, and load three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Rear Tray.
(2) Make sure that b appears on the LED, then press the Black or Color button.
The machine starts cleaning. The cleaning will be completed after the paper is ejected.

This should fix the issue

You must check carefully to make sure all paper is removed, even little pieces that may have been torn. Use a flashlight and check very carefully in the paper path, also look down the paper chute, and where the paper exits.

Canon ix4000 printer. Paper jam caused by sticky label, came off backing, stuck to roller. Normal paper jam cures not effective.

This seems to be fault in the transport of the paper in the rollers. So since you have used adhesive sticker printing, it is possible that some glue has got clogged into the rollers. So use a good clening of the rollers using methyl spirit. also check to see asthere can be some jammed paper in the rollers or the mechanism.
So start this work only if you are mechanically able with the right tools.
Remove the covers to get access to the mechanism . Remove the motor drive assembly , the fitting of the motor to the mechanism. Once this is removed the rollers can be turned manually so that you will be able to feed a paper to see the progress of the movement while studying if there is any obstruction or damage to the paper.
There is a in-detect sensor, usually an opto-coupler , make sure this is not clogged or dirty as this IR detection feeds the signal to the processor for starting the motor drive feed.
Reassemble but make sure the rollers are aligned to be in equal gap to feed the paper without a side pull. Now you must print and see if the fault has changed. If not repeat the above work to confirm the area of obstruction.

Please see this solution from Canon. It is recommended you check your manual for the proper procedure for clearing paper jams. Incorrectly removing jams could damage your printer. Trust the following helps resolve your current issue.

If you do not have a manual it can be downloaded from here:

Issue: More than one sheet of paper feeds while printing

Solution: Clean the paper feed rollers using the MX300 operator panel

sikaku.gif Cleaning the Paper Feed Roller (Roller Cleaning) Clean the paper feed roller if paper is not fed properly. Cleaning the paper feed roller will wear the roller, so perform this only when necessary.

1. Make sure that the machine is turned on, and then remove any paper from the Rear Tray.

2. Clean the paper feed roller.

(1) Press the Menu button repeatedly until MAINTENANCE appears.

(2) Press the l_mark_s.jpg or r_mark_s.jpg button to select ROLLER CLEANING, then press the OK button.

The paper feed roller will rotate as it is cleaned.

3. Repeat step 2 twice.

4. Open the Paper Output Tray.

(1)Put your finger in the rounded indent beside the Paper Output Tray and open it gently.

(2) Open up and set the Output Tray Extension completely by pressing down the hollow on its front side.

5. Make sure that the paper feed roller stops rotating, then load three or more sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in portrait orientation in the Rear Tray.

Set the Paper Thickness Lever to the left.

6. Repeat step 2 three times.

The paper cleans the paper feed roller as it feeds through the machine.

If the problem is not resolved, wipe the paper feed roller (A) located on the right side inside the Rear Tray with a moistened cotton swab or the like. Rotate the roller (A) manually as you clean it. Do not touch the roller with your fingers; rotate it with the cotton swab.

Canon mp250 paper will not feed snags on something roller works but will not feed

I had a paper feed problem with a Canon MP 250 and solved it this way. (not my own)

After many attempts t clean the feed rollers etc. I tried the following.

I cut a piece of card stock about two inches wide. I fed this sock from the front to rear and carefully worked the card stock in and out and from side to side (flossed it) and dislodged a drywall screw !!

I realize that having a drywall screw lodged in the paper feed is not common, however this "flossing trick may help to clear the paper feed path in other situations.

When printing paper gets jammed immediately gets so far and tears

this is likely something fallen down the back of your paper feed, tip it up and see if you can dislodge it, when the paper feeds see which side gets stuck and which side is pulled in. the problem behind one of the rollers on the side that the paper gets stuck, so if you can get inside with a spatula or wedge to lift the roller/rollers onthat side and tip the printer backwards youve got a fair chance of removing the problem. alternatively the problem could be with the front set of rollers check that there is nothing within the printer behind these rollers also.

Paper roller on the left side of printer will not feed the paper

Remove the jammed paper. Unplug the printer from the mains and PC. Inspect the rollers, etc for tiny paper piece(s) that may be stuck, or other debris. Try to clean rollers and make sure they are dry.
Keep printer unplugged for about 2 minutes and replug and try a test print.
Also make sure that you have waited long enough for the printer to heat up before giving a print job.
Finally, it could be an issue with the paper sensor. If this is the case, you will probably have to take the printer in for servicing..

Hope that helps!

Paper will not feed from drawer

Pull the paper tray out of the machine. On the right side underneath you should see a rubber paper feed roller. Clean this off with a slightly damp cloth until it is "squeaky clean". Also, look about to be sure there is nothing blocking the paper path. Sometimes paper gets torn off and left in the machine when clearing a jam.

Paper feed feeding multiple sheets plus noisy feed

The most likely cause of this problem is a paper feeder malfunction. Because you were not specific in the model you have, repair could be rather variable.

One plausible cause is the paper rollers have tried up. Normally when the small rubber rollers grip the paper, the friction generated by a properly moisturized feeder can grip a single sheet. If your rollers are getting dry, you can use some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and rub it on the rollers. Make sure not to use isopropyl alcohol, that will cause the rollers to dry out even more. I've heard of people using WD-40, but I've never tried that. You would want the WD-40 to dry a while otherwise it will leave greasy residue on your nice white paper.

Another cause could be a small object (paperclip, staple, raisins) stuck in the paper feeding mechanism. Carefully inspect the feeder, comparing one side to another, and gently pushing on the movable parts to make sure they can move free. You don't want to push too hard or you could knock out a needed spring or damage the plastic gears.

Hope this helps!
