Why does my Singer sewing machine stop abruptly and flash '88' when I try to re-fill a bobbin?

the best place for an answer for this would be from a singer service agent who has direct access to singer technicians to get answers for problems new to him
It mat be something that you need to do before refilling a bobbin or it may be a service fault.

Receiver. Try a hard reboot. Unplug the power, wait a minute, plug it back in. If that doesn't work it may need to be 'reauthorized" by the company.

I have a Shapr Microwave Convection model R-8880(W) T which is flashing after being stored for 3 months. It won't work, the timing light just keeps flashing on andoff 88-888. Does it have a reset...

Try pushing / stop reset first. The setting the time by pushing clock button .... punch in the time and push the clock button again. Just respond here if that does not work. 88-8888 is what you get after your first plug it in. Sometimes you will get PF if you unplug it and plug it back in. If that appears push stop / reset / clear. (Same button)

This error only shows in diagnostic mode, with power off choose any buttons except stop and power, press in intervals 5 seconds on and 5 seconds off until 88 appears and all light light up. If the user panel is faulted F 2 will flash in the display, press the same button you used to start diagnostics to jump to the next error code and once through 88 will flash and diagnostics will start. Sometimes once F2 flashes and the machine has not been repaired it will stick at that mode.
