Question about Computers & Internet
Try starting it with a linux live cd in the DVD drive, I would suggest mx14 - if you can run a system from a cd then you may be able to access your hard drive and copy off your personal stuff that you need. (You may need to change the boot order by entering the bios when the laptop starts - try 'esc' or 'F2' as the laptop starts - go to boot order and set dvd drive as first boot. F10 to save and exit)
If you can do this then there is a fault with the instructions for the operating system. If you have a boot CD for the system then start the laptop with the CD in the drive.
If not then you can purchase one from here
Download mx14 from here

Norm.. Suffice to say these are a problem. Is it a P35 Adapter? If so look for a replacement and retry. If this does not help Check the CMOS battery voltage as crazy as it may seem but the Dell adapters are a little more complicated than a standard 2 wire output adapter. They have a 19V Feeder or main supply, The Negative or Ground as some people/techs call it as well as a 3.3V data circuit thats related to the Embedded controller chipset, BIOS and other circuits on the board. Also see if you can find a friend local with a known good working battery/adapter if you cannot afford or dont want to spend money on it. If all else fails yell back weve repaired a ton of these and they should have been included in the 5150/5160 Dell Class settlement in my opinion as they have a ton of similar components/issues..
Good Luck! Ken

SOURCE: Acer Aspire 3050 blue screen
When you first power your computer on, you'll want to press F2 to get into the bios. If you're lucky, your bios will have the option to turn off the Automatic Restart on System Failure. It may be worded differently, but if you can turn that off, then you'll be able to see what your blue screen says.
Also, if you have your Windows XP cd (if that is your operating system), you'll want to boot up with the cd in your drive, to get to the XP Recovery Console. Run the command: chkdsk /r
(It takes about 30+mins to finish)
It will scan and repair any errors it may find on your hard drive.

This could be a Power/Switch Problem.
Solution:- Leave the laptop turned Of And charge the battery to Full Capacity. ( usually between 4-16 Hours ) depending on capacity.
This will also fully charge the CMOS ( memory battery )
then boot the laptop up, and see if this solves your problem.
If not i,d suggest running a scandisk or hard-drive diagnostic program, to ensure that you have no Viruses-bad sectors on the hard-drive.
If you need further assistance please don,t hesitate to ask for more help and advice.

sounds to me like you need to restore your bios settings to default. if you can get into bios usually by pressing delete then it shouldnt be too hard. if that dont work the next easiest thing to do is to take out the battery that is inside the laptop somewhere on the motherboard! this will clear bios settings after about 2 or 3 mins of being out make sure the computer has no other power going to it when you take out battery
