Also if yours has a chain brake make it is in the release position. A few of these saws had them but not all.

How do i remove sprocket from chainsaw homelite ut10588

The washer needs to removed too as it may have dropped into a thread. Other than that there nothing that shouldn't be anything holding the sprocket drum; unless you have a clutch or needle bearing failure.
Note: only 6 tooth .375 sprocket is available and than it is an aftermarket one. The 8 tooth .325 spocket is no longer available.

HOW DO YOUREMOVE THE SPROCKET

The P4018 has an out board sprocket, so to remove you need to remove the side cover nuts and take away the cover, the bar and the chain, there is then an e clip on the end of the crank, insert a suitable screw driver into the inner edge of this clip and gently pry off, take away the large backing washer, the sprocket will now just pull off the crank.

Races at idle

If the idle cannot be controled by the idle screw ( screw marked with an I or T on the side of the carb ) then you may well have an air leak through a crank seal or a gasket.

To remove the sprocket on this saw you must remove the oiler gear that sits in the way. Remove the mounting screws for the oiler gear plate and you are home free.

my name is Dennis Gladx and I can assist you with the problem of getting the sprocket off of the crankshaft of your chainsaw.

To remove the centrifugal clutch and sprocket you unscrew it from the crankshaft and it has a left hand thread. Also a little trick to remove anything from a crankshaft that could turn while you want to unscrew the item, Remove the spark plug and insert some rope into the cylinder for the piston to squeeze against and you will jam the piston without damage.

Glad to be of assistance Please rate this solution because I can learn from your rating. Thank you
