This is somewhat odd behavior, I recommend to take it back to the store and ask for replacement if it is less than 2 years old.

You should return the device. It sounds like a problem with the hardware or the software. A good many rooted versions of android exp. these same problems also.

you have malware or virus best suggestion is to reset it to factory default assuming it has an android operting system

Try doing a factory reset. It can be done from the setting menu usually, or via a special button combination. Google will help you if you google your model number and 'factory reset'
