Question about Baby Lock Sewing Machines
Look for answers. read manual.
Without seeing the machine it's hard to tell what's wrong with it, look in the manual, check about the oiling of the machine, but if oiling doesn't help then you may have to have the machine checked, if you got the machine at a sewing machine shop, I would suggest calling them and telling them about the problem, if you got it from a individual, then it may need to be checked to see if it needs a adjustment or see if there is a broken part.

Supposedly, Simplicity is made for Tacony. I would start there to ask about parts.
Is this a presser foot lifter?
I do not recall ever seeing a pressure foot lifter.

This sounds as though you are loosing the bearings in the spinning motor, as if it is hard to turn in manual, very tight, the motor bearings are going out, or are about out. You will need to take it to a repair shop for an estimate. If the bearings are of the oilable type, this may take care of the problem. Find the motor and see if it has oil cups on it. Use a 20 weight oil you can get at any hardware store to do this.
