Lexmark x5470

Printer keep saying right cartridge incorrect,can't recieve faxs,will not copy. I put the color cartridge in the right slot, printer saying right cartridge is missing.

    I have removed ink and unpluged power supply on my lexmark,tried differnt color cartridge. All it does is tell me my warranty is out and no cartidge in right side, so what I refilled a cartridge and now it wont work any more because I didn; pay $30 for ther ink again.Thanks foer any help, or I have a really big paper weight or one good target.

    My original ink cartridges when I bought the printer ran out of ink. I replaced both the black and color ink cartridges but the printer message says the "right cartridge missing" (which is is the color cartridge). I've taken it out and put it back in several times but get the same message. I've also tried using a pencil eraser to clean the tip and still get the same message. I know I have the right cartridge and installed it correctly. Also, only will print black and not color. Help!

    I correctly replaced both the black and colored ink cartridges and now it won't print. Says incorrect and then unsupported cartridge. Please help me.

    I bought a 31 Photo Ink Cartridge for my x5470, I triple checked the box and the printer model. It is supposed to be compatible with my printer. I get the "Right Cartridge incorrect" thing. Reminds me of "PC Load Letter".

    It is my left cartridge that the printer says is "incorrect". However, I had a Lexmark cartridge in it. So, I put a new Lexmark cartridge in and I could print for about 11/2 hours then it came up with the same message and now won't print anything.

A Right Cartridge Incorrect message generally indicates a communication error between the All-In-One and the cartridge. This can be caused by a faulty cartridge; however, it may be due to a simple interruption in the communication between the cartridge and the All-In-One.
The procedures below will help you to identify the cause of the error and resolve the issue.
Rebricking the All-In-One and Resetting the NVRAM
NOTE: The embedded links in the table lead to specific troubleshooting documents.

Step Action 1 Power off the All-In-One and remove the power brick from the back of the unit. Wait 20 seconds. Then reinsert the brick and power the unit back on.
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to step 2.
No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.
2 Reset the NVRAM of the All-In-One
Did the error message return?
Yes: Continue to Checking the Cartridges.
No: Print a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved.


Checking the Cartridges
NOTE: The embedded links in the table lead to specific troubleshooting documents.

Step Action 1 Open the top cover of the All-In-One. Remove both cartridges. Close the top cover. 2 Power off the All-In-One and remove the power supply brick from the back of the unit. 3 Reinsert the power supply brick into the back of the All-In-One and power the unit back on.
Does the error message reappear?
Yes: Skip to Contacting Lexmark. There is a hardware issue with your printer and you need to contact our technical support center.
No: Continue to step 4.
4 Clean the cartridge contacts (click here for instructions) and the AIO carrier contacts (click here for instructions). Continue to step 5.
5 Power the AIO on, reinsert the black/photo cartridge, and close the top cover. Power the All-In-One off and then back on.
Does the error message reappear?
Yes: Power the unit off and try step 5 with another black/photo cartridge. If the error persists with the new cartridge, proceed to Contacting Lexmark.
No: Continue to step 6.
6 Power the AIO on, reinsert the color cartridge, and close the top cover. Power the All-In-One off and then back on.

Does the error message reappear?
Yes: Power the unit off and try step 6 with another color cartridge. If the error persists with the new cartridge, proceed to Contacting Lexmark.
No: Try printing a test page. If the test page prints, the error is resolved

My printer continues to say that my left cartridge is incorrect and my right cartridge is incorrect. I have misplaced my printer booklet.


- Make sure you are inserting the correct cartridge versions for your model. The Lexmark X5470 uses 32 or 34 black cartridge and 33 or 35 color cartridge.
- Ensure that both your cartridges have plenty of ink in them and not empty.
- You can also try to insert different known working cartridges to determine if what you're currently using is faulty or not.
- Try to remove the cartridges from your printer > close the printer cover > unplug/re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it > when the printer turns on, reinsert both cartridges.

Replacement color cartridge is not shaped the same as the original color cartridge and does not fit into the cartridge slot.


Make sure you are inserting the correct cartridge versions in your Lexmark printer. The Lexmark X5470 uses the 32/34 black cartridge and 33/35 color cartridges.

Wiping the nozzles with a moistened soft cloth or removing and reinserting the cartridges usually helps. The cartridges for the Lexmark X7170 are black: 32/34 and color: 33/35. If these are the cartridges that you purchased and even tried your old and new cartridges yet the problem persists, please don't hesitate to contact Lexmark technical support.

you may have mixed up the cartridges as you put them in try taking them out and re inserting them matching the colors.

Hello there:
what this is refering to is that the cartridge is either not the right one for the printer or the device is having a problem with that cartridge i would remove the cartridge and verify that it is the right one that goes in their and also since youare having the cartridge out i would clean out the contact area to get rid of the old ink that may be sitting on the contact areas ok

I have a lexmark X5470 bought a lexmark #33 color cartridge. the printer states: right cartridge incorrect. at the store it said that it is compatable with my printer. how do i get my printer to work?


According to the Lexmark site an number 33 color cartridge is the correct color cartridge for the printer.

Are you trying to print potographs? If so, then you would need the #32 cartridge and the color cartridge together in the priter.

If you believe that the cartridge is defective, contact Lexmark at 1-800-232-3000 and let them know you received a defective cartidge.

Clear NV RAM..... Unplug the Power Supply from the Printer.... Press and Hold the #5 button on the Printer and plug in the Power Supply....... Don Release the #5 button till the Printer turns on completely.... After releasing the #5 button........ Press the Menu button once Keep on Pressing the Right Navigation Key till u find an option saying Maintanence goto maintanenece and go to manufacturing and click on clear NV RAM..... Now as soon as the Printer is Restarted....... U will be able to send and recieve faxes..... Thanku.............
