Question about Ricoh Office Equipment & Supplies
Some days ago it started making bad copies and delaying adding toner. As the machine has 168K copies made, I change the developer and put a new toner cartridge and started to work OK but only made 300 copies and now the error red light is ON and the msg ADD toner as well. I got some experience on MITA and Panasonic but not on Ricoh. Any help????
Is there or was there a grinding noise? If so the gears on the magnetic roller in the development unit are shot. You'll need to replace them. Part numbers: B0393060 and B0393062. If those gears are in good shape then check the front of the development unit where the toner drops in. If it's overflowing then turn the gear in the back of the development unit with a pair of pliers. If it turns, there is a drive problem for the development unit. If it doesn't, replace the developement unit. If there is no toner in the front, check to see if the toner bottle turns. If it does, replace the toner hopper. If not, replace the toner bottle drive motor.

Take out the toner cartridge and shake it vigorously. When they sit for a long time the powder tends to clump.

Testimonial: "Do I have to run a specific simulation telling the machine that I change the developer? Wich one?"
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Are you a tech? I suspect not. You need to remove the drum unit, disassemble, separate the drum from the development unit. Remove cover of developer unit, add developer, reassemble, and run SP2214 to calibrate.
This is NOT a procedure to be performed by an end user...no disrespect intended.

Have the service people set the machine to add toner(per pixelcount) and test run it for a day or two. If this works it means the sensor in the developer unit that tells the machine to add toner from the cartridge is bad. If that is the case replace the sensor. It sounds like the machine is not adding toner to itself. Have them also test the toner motor.
