Look at the fill connection to see if there are any shipping plugs blocking the water flow. If not then the solenoid that opens the water inlet to fill the machine is not working.

SOURCE: Washing machine wont fill with

Yesterday, my Whirlpool washer just agitated only, no matter what cycle it was turned onto. My husband shook the washer, and gently dropped it up and down on the floor. He also unplugged it for a few minutes. I turned it on, and like magic it worked correctly! I have done 4 loads of wash since we got it going this am. I am happy. The washer is only 2 years old, and repairs are more then the appliance cost!!

After filling water it wont start the cycle?

Not an expert on washing machines Steve but I am mechanical. If the machine fills with water then the programmer must be working to an extent. It may be partially functional. It may possibly be entirely functional but the motor might have given up the ghost. I have had a few machines over my long life and when they have broken it has always been the programmer that broke. Anecdotal, but that would be my guess.
As washing machines are so cheap nowadays
I would get a new one rather than have a repair carried out that can cost nearly as much as a new machine.Good Luck

My new Miele Washing Machine (Model no WDA 110) is not taking in water. The programme timer counts down but no water comes in thru powder/conditioner. We have checked the installation carefully and

Hi, Jane.
Is the tap on? (Sorry, I had to ask)
Make sure the filters on the inlet valve(s) aren't blocked.
If all is well with the inlet valves you should hear a faint humming. This is normal.
If it's a new machine it would still be under warranty, so you should get a Miele serviceman to check out the problem.
Good Luck

Dishwasher wont go into cycle mode and hums

No model and brand name .
the way you mention look like the main motor jammed and making the humming noise click out on overload then the humming noise stop and after a while it will humming again and continue like that until you switch off the machine. If the dishwasher is old I would recommand you buy a new one instead of changing the motor.
God Bless have a nice day Dickson

Fills up ok,but wont wash,,has a humming sound.

Yes, you need to fit new brushes, if motor still does not go, then it is probably faulty.
