If you're seeing a "Check Cable" message on the monitor - it's working. If this message appears, it means the monitor isn't receiving a signal from the computer. Cable could be loose, or video circuit has failed.

Power went off now monitor is giving check cable error

Perhaps you try to switch of all devices and start switching them on one at the time. Starting with the TV and then the other devices. Switching of is like a cold boot. If there is no on / off switch, please unplug the device and reinsert the plug after a few seconds.

Screen gets black

Typically the graphics card went out. Other possibilities include, loose monitor cable or short in the cable, or incorrect graphics driver installed or missing, or monitor is shot (least possible). Things to look for: When booting up are you able to see words in the monitor or is there a series of non-regular error code beeps? If beeps then most likely your graphics card is either loose or fried, or incompatible. If you it works fine, but the light on the monitor turns orange and screen goes black, then it's most likely a loose monitor data cable or there is a short in the cable, or monitor's power cable is loose. Then check both connections, power and data on the monitor, and also where it hooks to the computer make sure it's screwed in snug.

I want to change my moniter

First you should lower the screen resolution for security or extra precaution purpose or it may so happen that after replacing the monitor - display will not come or will give out of frequency error. Shut down the PC - disconnect the system from power. remove the data cable (generally blue colored plug attached behind the cabinet). Remove the power cable and remove the old monitor. Put the new monitor at proper place - attach the data cable(blue) behind the cabinet from where the previous data cable plug was removed. Give power to the (replaced) monitor. Start the PC. now increase the resolution if required.

Check and make sure your connections on the back of the PC are snug...and make sure you have a good connection at the back of the monitor.

Will not come on. I have checked both the cables (power and computer)and they are ok. When pressing the power button the green light in it flickers slightly but monitor will not come on.

remove the cable from the back of the computer with the monitor and computer turned on. If it gives you a no signal error either the cable or your graphics card inside the computer needs to be replaced.

I have viewsonic 1703wb monitor. Often Monitor power went off

Check the power cable. If it uses a power brick style assembly (like a laptop) it may need to be replaced. Some power bricks can break a wire at the base of the brick just enough that it causes a short in the system and shuts down the power flow.
