Question about Refrigerators
Use your thumb to push in the button that is pushed in by the door when the door is closed. If the refrigerator light doesn't go off when you push in the button the door switch has gone bad. It pulls out easily, and is very cheap to replace. You can google "refrigerator parts" to find a replacement, or if you live in a large city you may be able to buy the part by finding a supplier in the Yellow pages. If that doesn't fix it you've only put out a few dollars. The switch probably operates the door as in many refrigerators.

SOURCE: Fridge too cold
There is a damper motor that is behind the vent where you feel the cold air coming out in the fridge section. That damper should open and close after making temp. adjustments. See if you can look in the vent and see if it is wide open. Set your freezer on the coldest setting and check this vent again an hour or so later. If it is still wide open then that damper motor is bad. Let me know if you find something different or have any questions.

Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if
there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not
defrosting as it should.

sounds like you may have gotten a refridgerant leak causing a low charge condition. some refridgerators have a evaporator fan if this quit working it will cause it to freeze up .thus the freezer does not use a fan and it will still get cold
