Furnance lights and then burner goes out

I'm assuming this is a remote sensor... if so, you need to read the MicroAmps that the flame is generating. If it is anything less than 4, then either the flame is not hitting the sensor enough, or the sensor needs replaced.

How to make sure you Heat is working

A common problem with a furnance is the furnance will attempt to ignite, several times, you will notice that the house is not heating properly. You will hear the furnance come on and you will assume the heat is on, and the house will continue to be cool. You wiil check the furnance and you will hear it start up and the blower will come on, however a few seconds later after you have walked away the blower will shut down and there is no heat on at this time. You will again go check the furnance and after the furnance start and go through the cycle the furnance will shut down you will notice that the furnance has indeed shut down. This is the common problem of the flame sensor, you will have to remove the flame sensor, get a small piece of fine grade sand paper, and remove all the black colored carbon from the flame sensor until is is shinning bright, replace the flame sensor and attempt to start the furnance. You will notice that apatment or house have reach the set temperture, that the furnance has went through its cycle and the furnance will ignite and stay on continueously until the house obtain the preset temperture..

I have a Goodman gas furnance. The furmance kicks on the glow rod lights and then the furnance shuts down after about 60 seconds it goes through the same cycle. The burners never come on. What's wrong?

Gas valve is not kicking in or gas shut offs are off. Can you check voltage where 2 wires connect to gas valve. Can you see blinking lights thru lower door window and count blinks. Code sticker should be on inside of lower door.

I need to locate a ignitor in my coleman gas furnance model 2865e766

Depending on the typ of burner it has, it should be located on the bottem in front of the burner rail, or to the side any way it will be int he burner rail, more than likey a hot surface ingintor.

Goodman Dependable 92, ignitor and fan comes on for 3 seconds, furnance does not turn on. Goes through 3-4 cycles, then shuts down furnance. If it is the flame sensor, where can one buy parts?

Do the burners come on? If so then yes it probably is the flame sensor if not then there is another issue not the flame sensor. The flame sensor could just be dirty take the flame sensor out and clean it with a piece of emery cloth or lite sand paper and put it back in and this should get the burners to stay on.

Sometimes burners will only stay lit for about 30 seconds on gas furnance. after doing this a few times, they will stay lit and the unit works fine.

Sounds like you need to take some sand cloth and clean the flame
sensor located on the far right side of the burner

My gas furnance will not stay on

This is probably the thermocouple that makes sure the flame is ignited. they can be cleaned with sand paper usually. it is located beside the burner within the fire. It will be very hot!

I hav a armstrong direct air furnance and when i call for heat the burners stay on for about 10 secs then go out and after the 3rd try it shuts itself off

Sounds like the flame sensor is dirty. Carbon builds up on the surface and it just takes a very small amount to block the sensor. Take some steel wool and very gently clean the surface off. The sensor is located at the last burner in line. Looks like a thick piece of wire just sticking down. Let me know how it goes. ken
