SOURCE: Maxtor one touch 4 mini-

Quite strange.. I would suggest that maybe one of the usb ports is faulty.. Or ofcourse, one of the cables.. Or the usb port has been mis-wired inside the pc. That has been done before. Anyway, do you have access to 2 usb drives.. I mean micro/thumb drives? I'd test each port by itself first, to see if they operate correctly, then if they do, use the two usb drives in the two usb ports at the same time, to test read & write.. I guess there are other things you could try, like going to control panel, system, hardware, device manager & checking on the status of the usb ports. That may tell you something worthwhile. Whatever you do, test each port with the one single cable. Yer, this is a strange fault. Let me know how you go. Rgds,

When i boot up my laptop i am getting the error message, "operating system not found." Can you please give me advice on what to do to fix my laptop? Toshiba laptop and im scared i may lose the things

Your hard drive is missing from the system. Or, just does not recognize it. The obvious - Remove any USB devices like drives and any media from disc player. Its trying to load, but can't find bootable hard drive, CD, or USB... Remove the hard drive and reseat (reconnect). Check BIOS by pressing an F key during boot. Look on the screen for correct Function key. Might be F2 key. Verify BIOS recognizes the drive. It must be listed! There is no going forward if it's not. Check boot order and make internal hard drive first. Save and restart.

In safe mode it does the same reboot reboot thing? Computer messages are not really reliable as far as fault tracing is concerned. The message given is a close as the PC can come to the right one.It sound as though there is a problem reading the hard drive. Try booting from a bootable CDor flash drive if you don't have a floppy drive, and see it if does the same. Can you get into the BIOS setup by pressing delete on bootup?

Xbox one blinking red light.. 1 not 3,, first time i seen this, fixed many ps3 ylod,, is it the same fix? looking for help here or a good link on repair info

When you get one red light flashing on the ROL of your Xbox 360 console that's an indicator of a hardware problem with the console connection to one of the parts connected to it as the hard drive or cables.

So, first disconnect all power and AV cables from the back of your Xbox 360 console and also unplug the power cord from the wall socket, wait for a minute then reconnect them all back and try to turn on your Xbox 360 console once more.

If that doesn't work, it seems then to be a fault with your Xbox 360 hard drive so turn off the console again and remove the hard drive then turn on your Xbox 360 console without the hard drive, supposed then to work fine, it might be an intermittent issue and when you reconnect the hard drive your Xbox 360 will work fine all after, or it will just work fine without the hard drive so it will be then definitely a fault with your Xbox 360 hard drive so call Xbox 360 customer support to exchange the hard drive for you.

The Xbox 360 console might even keep giving you the same error code even after you remove the hard drive so it will then appear to be a fault with your Xbox 360 console not the hard drive & also in a case like this we need to contact Xbox 360 customer support to exchange the console.

Try cleaning your temporary internet files, and your cache files. Depending on your IE version try updated to IE8. If you have a firewall such as zonealarm it might of switch to protected mode. The Program Switch will switch every 21 days.

I have had this for about 2 years but i havnt used it for about six months when i tried to boot it it just will not boot to the operating system see the second picture for the error message the error...

Ok...

The FIRST thing you need to try, is disconnecting ALL un-necessary devices from the PC... Leaving only 4: Power cable, Monitor cable (unless the screen is built in... I didn't look up your model), Keyboard, and Mouse.

Try booting... We are attempting to determine if any other devices (iPod, Printer Etc.) are interfering with the standard boot process...

If that does not resolve the issue (it likely won't if nothing has been connected to the PC recently), you most likely have corruption on the hard drive's boot sectors... In English: the computer cannot find Windows' boot-up files...

There are SEVERAL ways to fix that hard drive problem without losing your data, but I must insist you let a professional handle that... 1 word: LIABILITY

One last thing... If the PC is SO old, that it has a floppy disk drive... Make certain there are no floppies in it... the PC will try and read that instead of your hard drive.

System shuts down after surfing the internet

Regarding the error code, all you need to do is update your driver. You can do this by downloading the most up to date driver from motorola here.

Unfortunately, it seems like this might be two seperate issues.

Sometimes machines, especially laptops but it will happen to desktops as well, will shutdown when they are overheated in an attempt to prevent damage to the physical hardware. Judging by the "after about 15 minutes" comment, I think this might have something to do with it as that 15 minute window would give a non-functioning fan or unventilated laptop enough time to overheat your machine.

If the driver update does not stop the random rebooting and you do not think the machine is hot when it reboots, do this:

right-click My Computer and choose Properties; click the Advanced tab. In Vista, click the Start button, type System, Properties, Advanced, and press Enter. Click Continue if prompted by User Account Control.

In all versions, click the Settings button under 'Startup and Recovery'. Uncheck the Automatically restart box, and click OK twice. The next time the problem occurs, instead of rebooting you will likely see a text screen reporting a system error. Report back with what error it gives you.

Good luck!

Computer do not turn off

You have a System file problem
Go to C:\ right click go to properties tools "error check" click to open then tick little box to fix errors and reboot .
Windows on reboot will scan disk and fix any errors.
If this does not fix it reinstall windows in "Repair Mode"
Boot from Win CD after drivers etc are loaded will ask you what you want to do Press the R key to Install in repair mode. you will not lose any files doing so

REPAIR

Hello Benjamin2663,

Your error could be several things, but here is what to do to make it work....Listed in order so do them and then see if you get the error and if you do then do the next fix....

FIRST:
Load the set up defaults in the BIOS Setup. This may get it all to work.

SECOND:
Use an 80-conductor cable connected in the Primary IDE socket on the motherboard with the other end connected to the hard disk. You see you may be using an old type of cable and/or it may be connected to the secondary IDE channel. Installing the right cable in right socket will solve your problem.

THIRD:
Double check your cables and jumper settings. As long as you have confirmed them to be in their
correct positions, you go straight to the BIOS and enable Smart Drive capability for your hard drive.

Set all your drives to be Auto detected and reboot the PC.

IF the message and problem still appear you must now go to Device Manager and go to System. Open Systems and go to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, and you will now see primary and secondary channels. Click on the primary channel first and open the properties box.

Next go to the advanced settings and make sure the transfer modes on device 0 and device 1 are set to DMA if available. Do the same for the secondary channel as well and allow the PC to reboot.

If all that fails, go and have your motherboard checked out for faults.

Hope this help you.
