Adjust the temperature control for the freezer to a normal setting. Fast freeze is only for when new products are put in that need to be frozen. This locks the system into a continuous run mode and could be responsible for the freezing condition in the refrigerator section. Check the temperatures with a thermometer as the sensor for the freezer temperature could be bad causing the light to come on.

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite 106-74202402 Freezes food ice solid in the fridge

Hi

Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.

Most likely reason is fridge evaporator sensor faulty. The sensor is screwed to the back wall of the fridge behind bracket next to light and has a green band near the end . The sensor come as a repair kit (part no. 7323301). Just follow instructions in the packet. It is quite straight forward

Fridge will freeze everything every few days. Turning it off for several hours will reset and fix it but only for a few days. Been doing it for months regardless of how much food is in the fridge.

Hi,

Either you have a bad cold control or a failed damper witch will cause this issue. Most likely a bad damper though, locate the air vent top middle of the refer section and check to see if its wide open. If this does not close it will cause freezing. Good Luck

This is a very common problem with Samsung refrigerators especially the type that has two evaporators. The evaporator that is inside the fresh food section and will usally give people the most problems. The drain below the evaporator in the fresh food section will begin to freeze over or become blocked by gunk inside the drain line. When this happens it causes the fresh food section to retain water because with the drain blocked the moisture and defrost condensate water now have nowhere to go. Once that drain is blocked the freezing over of the evaporator will begin to happen more often slowing down defrost which again make problems worse. Clean the drain, make sure the refrigerator is level and confirm the model number of your refrigerator. Your model has no defrost timer and defrost are determined by the motherboard. There is a way to force defrost with your model from the motherboard but until the drain is cleaned out defrost will not help much because the water has no where to go but to freeze over the evaporator and fan area of the fresh food section evaporator. Food freezing in refrigerator storage bins

produce has more water in it to freeze. Try turning down the temp in the fridge part of the unit you may try putting a termometer in there to gauge where it should be adjusted to, about 38-41 degrees is a safe temp for keeping food.

Fridge problems

There is a damper between the Freezer section and the Refrigerator sections. If the damper is open to much the refrigerator will freeze up and it will freeze food. Find this damper and close to about 1/2 way.
The Thermostat is seperate make sure this is set around the middle setting. If the thermostat is bad it can cause the refrigerator to also freeze. Turn the dial down and listen for the compressor to click off. then wait a few minuites turn it up and see if the compressor come back on. If you turn the Thermostat all the way down it will shut off with the switch. not shut off by satisifying the temp. so just turn it down slowly and see if it is working.

Food area freezing

try adjusting the air damper. also how you arrange the shelves and food can have an effect on how things cool. think of the cold air from the freezer as a water fall. if tall items are causing the air to channel straight to the botom of the fridge with out dispersing it will cause items to freeze at the bottom of the fridge. Play with your lay out. Also if the fridge is running all the time good way to test is to turn the fridge all the way up before bed. in the morning if the fridge is still running try turning it down till the compresor turns off. if the control is in the off position you need to replace it. if it shuts off before the control says "off" play with the air flow. Hope this helps.
