Hi I have acquired a faema granditalia x2 coffee machine. Do I have to connect to mains water or can I put into a water source? Will it pump the water or does it have to be pressured?

It needs a pressurised feed. Doesn't have to be very high - 0.2Bar (=6ft head) will do.

SOURCE: User Manual for Faema D92/A, doesn't dispense coffee, only water

This will take some time so bear with me.
The problem with the machine is most likely the solenoid valve(black or blue electrical box connected on the side of the group), for easier access remove the front panel there are about 5 screws holding it in place, 2 on the bottom and 3 on the top under-side. Disconnect or turn off the water supply. Then using a 14mm open end wrench remove the nut and the discharge pipe. Do Not remove the 4 small allen wrench screws on the brass piece connected to the machine. Now remove the electrical box over the silver pipe, and using a cressent remove the silver pipe from the brass rectangle square. Slowly open the water supply, if water shoots out then the head is clear, we will move on if not, use a pin and clean the middle hole. Check the silver pipe also there is a small plunger in there press it in if it moves freely then we are good, if not you can try soaking it in puro caff until it clears or just get a new solenoid coil. Remove the shower screen and screw in the group head, you can soak those also.
If you still cannot get water, then we will have to go deeper into the machine.

SOURCE: My Gaggia Baby C coffee maker has stopped pumping water

From what you have asked the only thing I can suggest is that the pump needs to be replaced. Do you hear the pump vibrating? The lines from the pump may be blocked. Have you tried to descale the machine.

Waterpump makes a lot of noise

It is possible that the water coming into the pump from the mains is obstructed. If you have a water filter, that might need to be replaced. Some of the pumps have a stone filter on them, you will see a huge nut on the inlet side of the pump, that might need to be cleaned. Also check all water lines make sure you have no kinks. Pay attention to the gauge on the machine when the noise is happening if the water dispensing pressure lever should be at about between 3-6 bar when not being used and about 9 when brewing espresso.

There is an economizer valve on the machine that needs to be adjusted. I will assume it was pumping hot water, this is not a new installed machine, then the machine has scale buildup that is preventing the hot water from leaving the boiler through the tubes to the solenoid, only the mixed cold water is being dispensed. If this is a new installed machine, adjust the economizer on the boiler, remove the left panel for access. Big nut on the boiler you will see where it connects to the solenoid.

If you here a noise from the realys click on but display is dead then check these:
1. The Service boiler thermostat triker off and need to be reset.
2. Griding board fuse 6.3 A need to be replaced or reset.

If when you switch on you here nothing then:
1.The main switch is dead and need to be replaced or
2. The connector from power transformer is loose from overheating and need to replace the connector or connect the wires directly with each other.

We have a faema e92 but our mains water is off, can we manually fill the tank without mains water?

The machine can sack the water directly from a water tank since the water inlet hose is conected first to presure pump. Just insert the water inlet hose in a water tank, however please take care that if you leave the pump work without ay water for more than 2 minutes the pump might be destroed.

I am trying to get my Faema Contessa espresso machine to draw up the water from its holding container, any ideas on how to prime its pump?

Vibration pumps usually make this when they stay long without work, sometimes they are remaining useless after this, you can try to open steam valve and to try pumping inn the water, if it does not helps, YOU MUST open the device, remove pump and blow her with compressed air few times, (they have two sensitive non return valves on the outlet). After blowing try it with water outside the device and see if she draws. If you recover the old one just put it in place and continues to work. If not than you must buy new pump

Try replacing the brew solenoid on the grouphead. Its the black or blue electrical box assembly connected to the side of the group.

You may want to have a close look at the seats. There may have been irregular wear on one or more causing the leak. Try and make sure each one is back in its original location.
