Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

Hi, I have a Philips 47pfl7642d/12 with 6 years old. Now when i turn on the LCD, it starts making a non-stop clicking in the relay and the blue led blinking. I uncover the back, unplug the 2 flats to the inverters and 2 of the 3 flats to the main board, only maintaining connected the flat cable were the PSON signal is presented. With only this cable connected, the power supply PCB turns on (with the delayed start) normally and i measure the 24V (23.8v) of the two inverters, PSON (5v) and +12 (11.8v), -12v (-11.8v), 5v (5v) correctly. But everytime i turn the main 220V off, connect the +12 (11.8v), -12v (-11.8v), 5v (5v) flat cable to the main board, turn main 220V again, it starts clicking the relay again. Can you please help me trying to find the problem (Power Supply PCB or Main board) or give any clues to repair the problem ? Best Regards and Thanks In Advance CS

It sounds as if the power supply is depleting as you draw more power I would replace it first

Sounds like main board has damaged. These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience. If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.
Contact any service technician, or the authorized service centre for Philips.

Hi my name is Roety,
I can help you with your issue ,
First of all lower the blue and any other screen controls or service menu settings back to where they were or lower.
Then see if it powers on again with a picture.
If it still shuts off, unplug the Blue CRT circuit board and see if it works.
If it does work the blue CRT may be shorted .
Your problem may have been corroded CRT pins.

Ok. I got my tv back on.
I pulled off the back cover and found the relay that was clicking.
I have two blue relays next to each other that click when the power is pushed.
I placed a hair dryer over the relays for about a minute.
Once heated up, it only took 4 tries to get the TV to stay on.
