A speaker icon with a slash across it = your speaker is on MUTE. Try to turn the sound volume up or if you have a MUTE button on the device, press on it to UNMUTE the speaker.

First Make sure that both you and the person you are calling are using the latest version of Skype.

http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-full

If your contact cannot hear you, it can be either on your side or theirs.

Please confirm that you have done the following:

If you go in the Tool menu, then Options, you will get a section called Audio settings.

There you can chose the right Input device, in your case you want the microphone of your webcam, and once it is selected try talking and you should see a "green line" showing as you speak confirming that the device is properly recording.

If the green line is short, you might want to boost the volume by moving the blue dot to the right. You can also uncheck the "adjust my volume automatically" since it can put your volume very low every time a loud noise is caught by the microphone.

If the camera microphone is not listed, installing your webcam software again should make it available after a reboot.

After That, try making a test call (Echo/Sound Test Service). If you can record your own voice and hear it played back to you, then the problem may lie with the person you are calling. If so, ask them to follow these instructions.

I have the tascam 144 interface With a perception 120 mic, And at 1st everything sounded Great bit the last couple of tracks I recorded sounds really distorted It sounds like I'm singing thru a...

I'm no expert in sound cards but I know some stuff about music recording, when sound is distorted you can see the wave you recorded as a flat in both top and bottom parts of the wave, this happens when the inpu to mic or "mic volume level" is too high, try decreasing the volume level of your mic via recording software or use the small speaker icon in the lower right part of windows taskbar to get to the windows default sound card's properties, get to the mic lever and lower it at will to get the desired volume level you need.

See if this solves your problem, if not don't hesitate to reply with some more info to see if I can help.

My problem is when I'm recording my voice and or just using my webcam I get a loud background noise, I didn't have this problem until maybe a week into having my webcam, can you please help me?

Make sure the webcam mic is set as default - especially if its a laptop which also has a mic.

Plug in the webcam

TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
Click "Recording" tab.
Right click on the volume graph and select 'Show disabled devices' and 'Show disconnected devices'
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

Your mic may also be picking up sound from your own speakers. To overcome this problem use a set of headphones.

Microphone Recording

It all has to do with your VST Connections in Cubase LE (if you are using Cubase LE).

What you have to do is:
1)Go in and label you inputs and outputs in the Device Setup. Select " US 122L-US 144" Here your inputs and outputs should be displayed. You should be able to see which input is "active" and which ones are "inactive".

2) After noting which ones are active label these devices. Click the "Show As" section and label you "active" outputs as speakers or whatever you like. Also label you inputs which should be your mic or MIDIs.

3) After labeling, click " VST System Link" and make sure the correct input and output is selected, Example: (Input: AKG Perception 220, Out-put: Speakers/ Headphones) Hit Ok!

4) Bring up the "VST Connections" menu (F4) or (Device> VST Connections). Clear out all your outputs and inputs!

5) In your outputs click "Add Bus" Select stereo and 1. This should come up as whatever you labeled the outputs ( Speakers/Headphones for me!)

6) In your inputs click " Add Bus" Select Mono and 2. Here is where you should get one input that says the name of your input( AKG Perception 220 in L) The one below it should be ( US-144 Analog R or L) Click this and choose your Microphone! You should have the 2 options with your microphone named.

7) Test it (record something) and see if it works and plays in both ears if you want more clarification feel free to message me!!!!!!!

I HOPE THIS WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just got a tascam dp01cf recorder and i'm having trouble with it, its abit hard to understand what to plugs in were, i'm using a electric guitar,a yamaha magicstomp effect pedal and a amp. also i'm...

Hi,

You have a couple of options with your guitar input. You can either plug your guitar directly into the right (Hi-Z) input and use the Tascam's onboard effects with it instead of your effect pedal.

You can put your pedal in the chain between your guitar and the (Hi-Z) input. So guitar into pedal is, pedal out into Tascam Hi-z in. (Still doesn't use the amp).

Or my preferred method for recording guitar would be to mic the amp. In that case you'd just input a microphone (placed about 8-12 inches from your amp) and record your guitar that way. The mic would be plugged into either one of the Tascams two mic inputs to record the amps speaker output while your guitar, pedal and amp would just be hooked up in the normal way.

Please note: Never plug the output from an amp into any of the Tascams inputs. Those inputs are line-level and the speaker output level which comes out of an amp out would damage your Tascam.

To get a backing song into a track in your Tascam, you'll have to first, using a PC, get the song into a 16 bit mono Wav file format. Then you'll have to use the USB import function to copy that wav file onto your Tascam onto the CF media cards fat partition. From the you'll be able to import it into the Tascam choosing which track it will import into.

Cheers,

BD
