What brands chain can i use on an 025

well im sure stihl wants you to use there's , but Oregon makes nice ones too

its allways a good idea to have two chains and 1 spare spark plug for your saw , these are a sort of "must haves!!" for saws , oh and a wrench that fits the spark plug and the chain bar too , Oregon makes one of those combo wrenches 4 that too

Saw is cutting the wood on an angle

the cutters on your chain are not filed evenly. Either take saw to a Stihl dealer and have chain sharpened or get a new chain. Ask them to show you how to sharpen your chain.

Does the blade ever need to be sharpened or replaced?

A chain saw blade requires sharpening often. It can be in as little as 20 minutes if your cutting a very hard wood. Even less if you happen to allow the blade to be used in dirt.
Here is a video to help you use a "file guide" to sharpen your blade.

This is the most commonly available file guide:

What is the chain gauge for current Stihl chainsaws ( width of bar slot)

There is no one gauge that is common to all new Stihl saws. Gauge is completely dependent on the bar chosen.

The standards are 0.043, 0.050, 0.053. 0.058, 0.063, 0.080.

You should be able to find your chain gauge on the bar. Even if the paint is worn away, you should see the impression from the stamping. If all else fails, take the chain into a Stihl shop and they will have no problem finding what you need.

Require a manual for an ''efco'' chain sharpener.

There are no "efco" chain sharpeners at Northern Tool or at There is a Chinese made grinder with the Northern Tool name on it. It is a lessor quality copy of an Oregon model 511A. It is such a good copy that parts and the manuals are interchangable. The 511A manual can be downloaded here:
