Tecumseh 20 hp tvt691 only runs on full choke

Sounds like your fuel jet is plugged. if you have a fuel cup on the bottom of your carb remove it and clean it out real good. The fuel jet should be the little screw tat holds the cup on Take it out and blow it outwith an air compressor or put a real fine wire through it if you do not have air pressure. You should be able to feel air if before you put it together you blow through it.
Might be a good plan to dump your old gas out and make sure your fuel tank is clean and put fresh gas into it.
A large percentage of when the engines have to be choked all the time the jet is plugged or partly plugged. Do not mess with the float when you take the bowel off or you could have other issues to get it put back together properly.

sorry but you need to take tye carburettors off and take the float bowls off and take all the jets out and clean all the holes out in the jets the pilot jets are the smaller ones offset these will ve blocked up for sure they have a very small hole about .45 mm so less than half a millimetre across.clean them by using the hair out of a wire brush

Husqvarna 51, best saw even until I dump last of fuel can in. Great start and low speed, cuts out attempting high speed. assumed fouled plug replaced, dumped fuel, blew out fuel filter, new fuel, no...

It still sounds like a dirty fuel blockage. My suggestion is to get really radical about cleaning out all fuel lines, jets, all tiny apertures where fuel travels. Its gotta be somewhere. Think Think and Think.

I have a 96 Harley Super Glide. After sitting for 2 months when accelerating motor will ping real bad. I have dumped the fuel and replaced with new. I have been told that this carb is bad for plugging air...

You're not getting enough fuel to the combustion chamber. After sitting 2 months, the fuel would deteriorate and gum up the carburetor internals. You should start by giving the carburetors a thorough cleaning and make sure all the jets are clear.

My 97 classic is smoking at idol, and dumping fuel. Carb has been cleaned and the needleand jets have been changed (we even tried smaller ones). It is dumping too much fuel. When we adjust it, it either...

A plugged Idle Jet will give you an erratic idle (up,down,up,down) and also draw in liquid fuel instead of vapor. The 'O' Ring between the float valve seat and carburetor body and the Float Valve are the only two places the fuel may enter the fuel bowl. If the 'O' Ring or Float Vale is leaking the float cannot regulate the fuel level. To test a fuel pump you will need to test for Pressure and Volume.

I have a 04 prairie 700 that loads up and back fires through the carbs at mid to full throdle. Starts and idles great. just replaced plugs and fuel after being stored for 3 months. I cleaned the jets and...

what did you use to clean the jets? if you stuck something inside them, you could have reamed it out a little to a larger size. you can try leaning out your mixture screw a little and see if that works. if not, you might have to replace your main jets.

Coleman Powermate keeps stalling!

1. Turn off the gas

Remove the fuel bowl and the brass jet in the bottom of the carb. The bolt / cap nut for the fuel bowl has 2 holes in it make sure they are clean. Also make sure the pin hole in the jet is clean along with the holes in the side of the jet. (daylight check of pin hole)

Usually on the bottom of the gas tank there is a fuel bowl. Remove the bowl and dump contents making sure it is clean then re-install the fuel bowl for the tank.

Go back and reinstall the carb jet

Now lets flush the fuel system.
Get something for catching fuel uder the carb then momentarily turn on the fuel to flush the system and catch the fuel.

Turn the supply fuel off and reinstall the filter bowl and cap nut.

Turn on fuel supply.

Time to it test now.

I have a Homelite 26vt Mighty Lite that will only start when I dump gas straight in the carburetor after it uses that gas it will not start

you have 1 of 3 things wrong
1 you have pluged jets
2 you have a pluged fuel filter
3 you have a stuck float
4 fuel line is crimped

1 2 3 4 thats all it can be
preasurise the fuel tank by blowing into it when almost empty
this will as times clear jets
if fuel line kinked un twist it
best bet buy a rebuild kit for the carb and enjoy some time with a screw driver
