My hvac is not cooling. It is DATs/Zone controlled with a honeywell hz322. When I bypass the hz322 by shorting R W on the furnace control board heat runs fine. The HZ322 is reporting DATs temp limit exceeded even when the system has been sitting for days.... Any ideas on how to fix that?

Limit will open when exceeded heat at heat exchanger. possible cause restriction on air flow(blower speed too slow, dirty filter or weak limit switch itself). when unit cooling down limit will reset and start back like nothing was wrong

SOURCE: My furnace works intermittently.

You may have a dirty flame sensor. There are a number of other possible causes as well. Rheem/Ruud/Weatherking furnaces also have problems with the connection on the blower deck.
The flame sensor sometimes must be bypassed around the MOLEX CONNECTOR in the deck due to humidity.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Honeywell thermostat won't regulate temp properly

Is there a setting on your thermostat that makes the unit stay on for 10, 15, 20, 25 minutes after you reach set temp. You can change this setting by looking at your manual for the thermostat. Not sure if there is one for this thermostat but mine has one. Mine was running 15 min after set temp and making it cool down 2 degrees lower than set temp. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: st6400c thermostat wont run the central heating independantly

This does not sound like a thermostat problem. I would be looking for a zone valve or circulator pump problem.

I installed a new thermostat on my hvac system and the heat is not working anymore.

On that thermostat there is an R and an RC wire connection, the R is the power wire for heat and RC is the power wire for cooling. If you connected the power wire (normally red in color) to the RC only the fan control and AC control will work, there has to be a jumper wire between the R and RC terminals (assuming there is only one control transformer) for both the heat and cool functions to work.

Try bypassing the control board by jumping the L1 wire with the high speed motor wire, if the motor runs then the board is faulty and must be replaced. If the motor does not run either the capacior is bad or the motor itself

Yes, I believe you are correct concerning the circuit panel.

Regarding your heat pump not keeping up ...depending on what part of the country you live in, heat pumps are not the best thing to heat with. As you probably already know, once it reaches 32 degrees outside, the heat pump stops working and the electric furnace or heat strips come on to supply warm air. Frankly, when that happens, it's like turning on your kitchen toaster and blowing air across it with an electric fan. Doesn't sound to efficient does it. Plus, your electric meter is spinning like crazy and the power company is falling in love with you.

In my area (Virginia) most new home construction is now using what's called a dual fuel system. It's a heat pump, but it has a gas furnace backup for when it reaches 35 degrees outdoors. It's very, very efficient and a very comfortable heat. The gas furnace can run on either Natural Gas or Propane Gas.
In most cases this can be added to an existing heat pump system. The only thing necessary is the Gas Furnace, since you already have a heat pump and all the duct work. Could probably be added for a whole lot less than you''d expect.

The other option is to add a vent-free gas fireplace or vent-free gas logs, if you have an existing solid fuel burning fireplace. They are great for zone heating and/or supplemental heating. Plus, if you have a power outage in the middle of the winter, they'll still work, as they don't require any electricity.

I didn't mean to run own, but I hope all this helps you solve your heating problem.
Please let me know.

Please tell me how to reset my honeywell hz322 hvac zone panel.

There is a way to restore the Factory Defaults via the Advanced Configuration Mode. Be careful, this will require thorough knowledge of you system to reconfigure based on your particular system. Here is a link to the manual to assist you with the Advanced Configuration Mode.
Specifically, pages 6 & 7. Visit this link:

there is a "zone a lone" switch on the upper right side of the panel. Make sure it is in the "occupied" position. I believe that is up. If that doesn't work reply back.
