On some refrigerators, the door hinge hardware has to be loosened to adjust the seal but there is a possibility that a poor seal is due to failure of the magnetic gasket.

We have a 3 month old fridge and the handle is coming away from the fridge. There is a bolt under the handle which suits a 4mm allen key, but it does not seem to do anything if you tighten or loosten it. ...

The bolt on the handle tightens on a pin that comes through the door. If the tightening the screw on the handle and it still does not tighten then the pin has come loose inside the door. If the unit is only 3 months old I suggest contacting who you bought it from. It should be under warranty.

We have a Samsung side by side fridge model number SRS 596NP. It is a double door (side by side) fridge/freezer. After moving house the top right hand door does not seal properly and is slightly lower than...

  1. Anytime you move a fridge there is a chance that the doors will slide of balance so to speak, the simple fix is usually to readjust them by tightening/loosening the screws on the mount at the top of the door(usually under a cap that is the same color as your fridge). You want the door open when you adjust the level of the door and depending on your model the bottom may need to be adjusted as well. It should be pretty simple just open the door and hold it up a bit to about where you want it to sit and tighten your screws on the hinge, hopefully that helps.

The fridge door will not stay closed. I changed the gasket, tightened the door screws, cleaned the contact area and it still pops open.

After all the good ideas you've already tried, the next things on your list could be:
(a) level the floor under the fridge - they often sag under the heavy weight of a loaded fridge due to moisture/rot.
(b) level the fridge itself - using the leveling legs. If the fridge continues to have a problem with
the door poping open, try raising up the front of the fridge above level.
(c) unload the door pockets - making the doors lighter may help solve the problem.

Door handle came loose .how do i tighten it up`

hello kyler.... Empty out the contents of the door of the fridge. Then pull up the gasket and under that you will see screws. Remove those screws and the entire inside of the door is released exposing the screws to tighten the handle. Joe

Thanks for choosing Fixya!

Fridge door not closing 100% at the top.

Loosen the screws holding the top door hinge. Pull up on the freezer door and hold it while you re-tighten the hinge screws.

Fisher Paykel fridge door handle loose

Yes hello, I had the same problem - similar fridge model.  Mine was the fridge (not freezer) door handle ie. the upper door.  There are no small holes on the bottom of my fridge handle.  Working from the outer door edge, I gently prized loose the plastic trim located under the door.  I didn't take it completely off, just loosened about one quarter of the length, enough to flex the trim downward so that I could then access the phillips head screw that secures the fridge handle from the inside of the door.  The trim will prevent you from using a conventional screw driver to tighten the screw.  I used a screw driver bit which is only 25mm long.  It has an hexagonal end to which I applied a small spanner and voila - the handle is once more secure.  Good luck.

GE Refrigerator side by side loose door handles

I was actually trying to find a solution to this problem myself though I'm pretty sure I already know the solution. Try this: grip the handle that's loose firmly and jerk it up. The handle should come up and the straight out to reveal the spring clip mechanism holding the handle on. Tighten the screws on this and then put the handle back on by pushing it towards the fridge and jerking it down. You make want to protect the fridge above and below were the handle attaches so you don't scratch the fridge door when pulling the handle on or off.
