Hi
An SSID is a Service Set IDentifierand acts as the name of a wireless local area network (WLAN). The same SSID must be used by every wireless device on the WLAN for them to communicate with one another.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Is it true that Social security checks are going to be renamed to Federal benefit checks

It's true that Social Security retirement payments are classified as "federal benefit payments." The word "benefits" has been applied to Social Security retirement payments since the Social Security program was enacted in the 1930s. The terminology is also not unique to Social Security, as the phrase "federal benefit payments" applies to a broad class of payments made to (or on behalf of) individuals under federal government programs - everything from Social Security Disability Insurance to Medicare to farm subsidies are considered "federal benefit payments." The fact that workers themselves contribute much of the money that goes into the Social Security retirement fund doesn't affect its classification as a benefit. They benefit the person who cashes the check.

Where do I apply for social security disability

The process is time-consuming and can be frustrating and difficult for some. Do not let this discourage you if you genuinely need SSDI. It is extremely important that you have documentation of your disability in order to get quick approval. You can fill out an application online at the link below. You can also make an appointment with your local social security office and they will assist you in filling out the application forms if you feel overwhelmed. WARNING...If you try to do this yourself (it can be done....I did it!) you must be ABSOLUTELY sure to fill out all forms completely. Any omissions can be cause for disapproval. Ensure you give exhaustive proof of your disability. The SSA is looking at your documentation to determine if you meet the requirements for disability (condition and severity), and proof that your disability will be a long-term (or permanent) condition.

How do i setup my wireless linksys model wcg200?

The wireless settings that you need to take note of are:
    a. SSID - this is the name of your wireless network
    b. SSID Broadcast - an indication if your SSID is showing on the list of networks available
    c. Wireless Security - serves as the password for your wireless network

To check the wireless settings on the Linksys router, follow the steps below.
Checking the Wireless Settings on the Linksys Router
    Step 1:
Access the router's web-based setup page. For instructions, click here. If you are using a Mac computer to access the web-based setup page, click here.
    Step 2:
When the router's web-based setup page appears, click Wireless.
    4678-009.png Step 3:
Look for Wireless Network Name (SSID). If it's still set to "linksys", change it to something unique then click 6-4680.jpg NOTE: Take note if SSID Broadcast is Enabled or Disabled. If it is Enabled, it means your SSID will show among the list of wireless networks available when any wireless device will search for a network to connect to. If it is Disabled, it will not be visible.

    4678-003.png
    Step 4:
Click the Wireless Security subtab and take note of the current Security Mode.
    4678-001.png
If Security Mode is set to WEP:
4678-007.png If Security Mode is set to WPA:
4678-013.png You can change your WPA shared key if you want to personalize it. It should be a minimum of eight and a maximum of 63 characters long.
    Step 5:
    Click 3695-017.png

I am a windows running computer connected to a Parkervision signalmax wr1500 router... I have internet access but my laptop (mac) cannot find the network that was previously accessible. What did I do...

If your mac is trying to connect wirelessly? If so, did you secure your wireless by disabling the broadcasting of the SSID?

If you have disabled SSID broadcasting (which is a good security measure), you will probably need to manually add the wireless network and key to get this to work.

    Hope this helped! :)

Connecting to a Wireless Network with SSID Broadcast Disabled when using Windows Vista & Windows 7 Article ID: 5451

    Creating a Profile

NOTE: Disabling SSID broadcast is another way to secure your wireless network. This will ensure that your SSID will not be detected whenever someone does a scan. When connecting to a wireless network with SSID broadcast disabled you have to create a profile.
    Step 1:
Right-click this icon kb_5451-001_en.png at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, then select Network and Sharing Center.

NOTE: If you are using Windows 7, just click once on this icon kb_5451-003_en.png at the bottom-right of the screen then select Open Network and Sharing Center.

On the Network and Sharing Center window, click Manage wireless networks.

    Step 3:
Click Add. NOTE: You have to remove your preferred network before before you proceed to click Add a new connection. If you see your network has changed from Automatic to Manual, you will face difficulties to connect your computer on the network because the SSID is not broadcasting into the available network connection. After removing your preferred network and adding it back, the network will turn to Automatic and you will be able to connect automatically into your network. Make sure to look at network properties/Connection and check "Connect when this network is in range".

How to connect to wireless network using vista with SSID disabled

Normal 0 On your laptop, go into the “Manage Network Connections” and delete your network. On you router, disable the SSID. In the “Manage Network Connection” click the add connection button and enter the information about you network manually. Vista will tell you that connecting to a network that doesn’t broadcast it’s SSID is less secure and will ask you to verify. After that it will connect just fine.

The reason its less secure is because your computer will ask everything it can if its xyz network and someone with not-so-good intentions could say that its xyz network and you would connect to a insecure network and all the info that you pass on that network could be intercepted. Choose your poison I guess.

    Good luck;

I wana put security code on my router what should i do?? no 1 can use this without my parmition...??

If you are not using the wireless part I highly recomment disabling the wireless part. Just log into your router web console, click on the wireless button, and select disable. If you are using it you can enable the security, change the SSID, and disable the broadcast of the SSID.

Also, be sure and change the default admin password. Write down the new password and store it in a safe place. If you ever forget it your can reset the router.
