How do you reset the replace fuser message.
I've read it is possible to replace a fuse in the fuser or to attach some wires and hold them together for a few seconds while restarting the printer and this should reset the fuser counter. I can see a fuse when I opened up the fuser. I'm also not sure were to attach the wires.. There are 4 thin grey wires that go to what looks like a thermistor touching one of the orange fuser rollors. There are also 2 thin grey wires that to to something inside the lower fuser rollor. Would anyone know if any of these wires are for the fuse?
Thanks

The OKI 980 Fatal error is a Fuser that needs to be replaced. Replace the fuser
that being said you can replace the fuse on the fuser unit or you can do the option below that I DO NOT RECOMMEND
separate the fuser unit in half
Unravel and loosen the wires at the connector at the bottom of the fuser close to the edge so you can pull that connector out a few inches so you can get a couple of wires in there.
Insert a wire into each of the two holes on the back of that connector. 2 and 3 have wires going in, 4 and 5 don't which is the fuse. After you get the wires in the 2 holes. Make sure the wires are long enough to hang out the case. put the case back together and put the fuser in. connect the two wires together and power up the machine. As soon as you here the first motor, which is about 5 seconds into the startup, pull the wires apart. This will make the machine think that the fuser has been broken and reset the fuser life.
You can also purchase new fuse units from ebay etc and replace the fuse unit.
That particular error indicates a fuser failure. Try turning off the printer and re-seating the fuser. If this does not clear the message then the fuser needs to be replaced. With such a low number of prints warranty should cover it.
Error 980 means that there is something stuck to the fuser. Check to see if there is something is stuck in the fuser. If you can't clean it out, then you will need to replace it.
i got that error on the first day i got my oki c5950 it was a result of a paper jam in the fuser unit, i removed the jamed paper but the error was still there, i contacted oki support and got a detailed explanation on how to fix this error with a patch file, so if u or anyone out there r still having that problem send me a mail on [email protected] and i will forward u the info.
good luck
Suggestion - Before you replace the fuser, take it out and check for a piece of stuck label, paper, etc. You can spin the fuser roller by turning the gear on the side.
