Question about Televison & Video
Have you got a video camera? Here is the trick to find out if the remote doesn't really work, or it's the TV that is not picking up the remote signal. Most remote use an infrared led to beam signals to the TV's. And this trick will show you whether that remote's LED is actually working. You and a friend or member of the family is all you need to begin testing your remote. Ask your friend or family member to hold the remote and you hold the camera on without recording. Point the remote about 5-6 feet from the camera. You watch the camera monitor screen while your friend or family member presses the On button or presses the buttons that you think are not operating the TV. With a dim room light, you should be able to see a flickering light coming from the remote in the camera screen. If it's hard to see, which I doubt, since remote infrared LED are pretty bright, you can turn your room lights off and try again. If the flickering LED from the remote is seen and is bright, then try all the buttons on the remote, or at least try the ones that you say are not working with the TV. If all is well, then there is nothing whatsoever wrong with the remote, but chances are that though the remote may beam out infrared light, it doesn't mean it is the right frequency for the TV. It could have lost the frequency and no longer sends the correct signals for the TV. However, the problem can also be with the TV remote's LED receiver. This falls into the hands of a technician's inspection on whether the receiving end of the remote is effective or needs replacement. In this part, you need to have the TV checked.

SOURCE: remote controll
Dear Raymond z (raymond Zammit)
Righteo, there are a number of places where you can get a replacement IR controller handset for your television. The first one and by far the most expensive is to contact your vendor/ manufacturer of your television set. They will usually supply you a replacement but as said, they are expensive, as are replacement components for your device directly from the vendor/ manufacturer.
Another option to finding your IR controller is to check various auction sites such as ebay in the hope of finding the suitable controller for your needs.
Further to this, there are skillful enough people within the electronics industry (people liuke myself) that will gladly overhaul the entire unit for you and repair it.
Should you not decide any of these options then there are compatable devices that you can use. Such a devic is called
ALL IN ONE. Now this is a clever little remote control that will quite easily work with your television set, and if you are really unlucky like me, and you smash your stereo, tv, hifi, and PCTV remotes, then the same device can store the signals and control the equipment in question. These little devices can be acquired from woolworths, argos, JML, Maplin, Comet, Currys, Dixons, PC World and online. the price ranges vry, but a half decent one should only cost you about £35 quid. (nice becase it even glows in the dark.......how pretty.
Then your last option, if you really want to be a flash person like me, is to leg it to your nearest argos or H.Samuels and buy yourself the CASIO REMOTE CONTROL WRISTWATCH. These work in the same way as yor above mentioned device, but only you wear this as a watch......coo for looking good or even for being annoying and turning off other peoples TV sets, or the ones you see from shop windows.....These watches do have the inbuilt settings for most popular makes and models, but for the unsupported versions you will need the remote controller, which in this case may defeat the objective of buying this cool gadget...Even so, they only retail for about £40 quid, and it works in thesame way as a watch too.........not bad for impressing your mates eh? Prices on this watch have remained constant and level for a few years now, so they obvously are selling well....but i must warn you....THE CASIO WATCH DOESNT CONTROL TELETEXT ON CERTAIN MODELS, so best to hit the local forums or get a product overview before rushing out and bagging one i think.
Anyway I do hope that this information issatisfactory for your needs, and if ther is anything further i can do for you, then please do not hesitate to contact me here, im usually here 24hrs a day 7/365 a year and will answer all of those baffling and not so baffling techhie things..........im here to help.
Best of luck on that and take care

call LG if you think the TV is not accepting the signal from the remote the TV may have a fault in it. If you have any universal remotes try programing them to control the TV if they work but the other does not it is remote.

SOURCE: Remote Stopped Working
It is possible the IR sensor is bad. Most of the time if it is a remote issue, the light on the remote will not light up. Does the remote that came with tv still control any functions? I would try the remote that came with the tv, and then go from there, but it sounds like your IR sensor has gone out on you.

Here is a list of codes for your brand of TV, and some steps to program the remote.
1. Hold down the clear TV button until all lights light up at the top of the remote
2. Punch in a 3 digit code (provided below)
3. Press the # (POUND) button
4. Try powering the tv on/off, and the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over from step 1 with a different code
