If you get writing on the screen, there are no issues with the BIOS. Try a different method.

SOURCE: jumper settings

There is no jumper settings, it is just a small bridge aside the bios Chip. you bridge the two pins and power to reset cmos.

A much easier way is removing the Cmos coin shaped battery from motherboar for few seconds, and put it back, this will reset Cmos the same .

SOURCE: Is the cmos battery on a vaio vgn-fe31m on the

Yes the cmos battery is on the motherboard.

Every motherboard that runs a computer has a backup battery to run the circuit while turned off. This battery runs the real-time clock (RTC) and is referred to as the CMOS battery. By keeping the clock active and running even when the computer is switched off, power up/down cycles can be logged and before the internet, your computer could keep dates accurately. It also serves to maintain the system configuration settings in BIOS memory based on RAM or FLASH RAM.

HOW TO REST MOTHERBOARD AFTER CHANGING BATTERY

If you changed the CMOS battery you in effect reset it. On boot up, go into the BIOS setup and check all settings. Even if you don't change any of the BIOS settings, save them as if you did and it will reboot. Should be OK then.

All laptops have a CMOS, or "Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor," battery.
The main purpose for the CMOS battery is to keep the system time, date and BIOS settings even if the computer is turned off or the main battery dies.
Individual Acer Aspire laptop models differ somewhat, but the general steps are the same when replacing a dead CMOS battery.Preparation

Read through the owner's manual for your particular Acer Aspire laptop to determine what kind of CMOS battery you need.
Purchase the battery through Acer or a local or online computer parts dealer.
Turn the laptop off and unplug it.
Also unplug any external hard drives, cameras or other external devices.
Turn the laptop over (bottom facing up), then touch something metal to remove static charge.
Removal
Remove the Phillips screws that secure the motherboard cover (refer to your owner's manual if necessary), then release the cover from the clips on the bottom of the plastic casing.
Lay the cover aside, then locate the CMOS battery cable on the right side of the motherboard. Unplug the cable, then remove the battery.
Installation
Plug the new CMOS battery cable into the motherboard.
Slide the battery partially under the laptop casing to hold it in place, then align the cover with the slots on the bottom of the laptop housing.
Replace the screws, then turn the laptop back over.
Settings
Plug the laptop in and turn it on.
Enter your BIOS (usually by pressing "F1," "F2," F10" or the "Delete" key) before the operating system loads.
Follow the BIOS prompts or refer to your Acer Aspire owner's manual to reset your time, date and desired system settings.
BIOS Reset
Any time the CMOS battery is unplugged for more than a few seconds, your BIOS will be reset to the default manufacturer settings.
If you make any changes to the BIOS that cause problems with your Acer Aspire, unplug the CMOS battery for 3-5 seconds to correct the problem.

Cant find cmos battery on toshiba satelite l300 motherboard, need to reset hdd password

You cannot reset a HDD password (if its a bitlocker one) and you have lost your encryption key reset file and forgot password.
if you mean the BIOS/Power on password then try this
Remove Laptop Battery Remove Memory Cover Spread spring clips to outside and pull out RAM memory Remove clear vinyl label opposite RAM memory slots In the upper left corner you will see JOPEN1 with a white silkscreen square Inside the square you will see what looks like the letter T over a U. Using a metal paper clip short the U to the Silver 1/4"post connecting the motherboard to the laptop case and hold it for 25 -30 seconds. Place back your RAM memory, put in the laptop battery and test start laptop. you should see a selection of F1 or F2 for setup. Using the F2 gets you into the Bios menu where you reset the time and date. Then Tab over to the SECURITY setting tab and change your passwords. Then hit F10 key

Laptop hp nx6320 keyboard f2 key is only working. f1 and f10 key is not responding so that I can't save memory upgradation option nor open the setup.

Have you tried "Delete" to enter the "Bios Settings"? If not this must be the shortcut for your laptop, since most compaqs' Bios settings are accessed with "del" key. Actually for Hp compaq laptops, F1, F2, F10 and Delete keys are the shortcuts. (varies with series/models).
If this doesn't help, try Fn+F1, Fn+F2, Fn+F10 etc..

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Asus V6J reset cmos button please

The computer should show you a key to hit to enter the setup. Nomally the keys may be F2, F10, DEL, or some other key.
If your computer does not even give you any display, then you can't enter setup--it's failing the POST which means it won't work at all.
In a laptop, you could take it apart far enough to find the CMOS battery and disconnect it to reset the CMOS, but I'm thinking you might have a hardware problem here--like maybe a motherboard.
One thing you can do is unplug it, remove the battery, then reinstall the battery, plug it in and try again. In a laptop, anything further will require dissembling the case.
